⁶ John wore a camel-hair garment with a leather belt round his waist and ate locusts^(A) and wild honey.^(B)

⁷ He proclaimed, ‘One who is more powerful^(C) than I am is coming after me.^(D) I am not worthy^(E) to stoop down and untie the strap of his sandals.^{(F) 8} I baptise you with^[a] water,^(G) but he will baptise you with the Holy Spirit.’^(H)
