⁶ But some of the scribes^(A) were sitting there, questioning^(B) in their hearts: ⁷ ‘Why does he speak like this? He’s blaspheming!^(C) Who can forgive^(D) sins^(E) but God alone? ’^(F)

⁸ Straight away^(G) Jesus perceived in his spirit^(H) that they were thinking like this within themselves and said to them, ‘Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?
