¹⁶ When Herod^(A) heard of it, he said, ‘John,^(B) the one I beheaded, has been raised! ’^(C)

¹⁷ For^(D) Herod himself had given orders to arrest John and to chain^(E) him in prison on account of Herodias,^(F) his brother Philip’s wife, because he had married her.^{(G) 18} John had been telling Herod, ‘It is not lawful^(H) for you to have your brother’s wife.’^(I)
