²² Now the one sown among the thorns – this is one who hears the word, but the worries of this age^(A) and the deceitfulness^[a] of wealth^(B) choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

¹⁹ but the worries^(A) of this age,^(B) the deceitfulness^[a](C) of wealth,^(D) and the desires^(E) for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.^(F)

⁶ So then, let us not sleep, like the rest, but let us stay awake and be self-controlled. ⁷ For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.
