Numbers 1:1-3

1 Again, the LORD spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the Tabernacle of the Congregation, on the first of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

² “Take the sum of all the Congregation of the children of Israel, after their families and households of their fathers, with the number of their names—all the males, man by man,

³ “from twenty years old and above—all that go forth to the war in Israel. You and Aaron shall number them throughout their armies.
