Numbers 25:1-3

25 Now while Israel stayed in Shittim, the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab,

² who called the people to the sacrifice of their gods. And the people ate and bowed down to their gods.

³ And Israel was coupled to Baal of Peor. Therefore, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against Israel.
