Greeting

1 Paul^(A) and Timothy,^(B) servants of Christ Jesus:

To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi,^(C) including the overseers^(D) and deacons.^(E)

² An overseer,^(A) therefore, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, self-controlled, sensible,^(B) respectable, hospitable,^(C) able to teach,

⁷ As an overseer^(A) of God’s household, he must be blameless, not arrogant, not hot-tempered, not an excessive drinker, not a bully, not greedy for money,

²⁵ For you were like sheep going astray,^[a](A) but you have now returned to the Shepherd^(B) and Overseer^[b] of your souls.
