17 Pedepseşte-ţi(A) fiul, şi el îţi va da odihnă
şi îţi va aduce desfătare sufletului.
18 Când(B) nu este nicio descoperire dumnezeiască, poporul este fără frâu;
dar(C) ferice de poporul care păzeşte Legea!
19 Nu prin vorbe se pedepseşte un rob,
căci, chiar dacă pricepe, n-ascultă.
