Proverbs 13:6-8

⁶ Righteousness guards people of integrity,^[a]
but wickedness undermines the sinner.^(A)

⁷ One person pretends to be rich but has nothing;^(B)
another pretends to be poor but has abundant wealth.^(C)

⁸ Riches are a ransom for a person’s life,^(D)
but a poor person hears no threat.
