Psalm 107:10-12

¹⁰Others sat in darkness and gloom^[a]—
prisoners in cruel chains^(A)—
¹¹because they rebelled against God’s commands
and despised the counsel of the Most High.^(B)
¹²He broke their spirits^[b] with hard labor;
they stumbled, and there was no one to help.^(C)
