^40 (A)He pours contempt on princes,
And causes them to wander in the wilderness where there is no way;

⁵ For He brings ^[a]down those who dwell on high,
^(A)The lofty city;
He lays it low,
He lays it low to the ground,
He brings it down to the dust.

⁶ The foot shall ^[a]tread it down—
The feet of the poor
And the steps of the needy.”

^3 (A)You shall trample the wicked,
For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet
On the day that I do this,”
