¹⁸ The Lord is near the broken-hearted;
he saves those crushed in spirit.^(A)

¹⁷ The sacrifice pleasing to God is^[a] a broken spirit.
You will not despise a broken and humbled heart, God.^(A)

and so they all came into being.
This is the Lord’s declaration.
I will look favourably on this kind of person:

and trembles at my word.
