7 It may be they will present their techinnah (supplication) before Hashem, and they will turn every ish from his derech hara’ah; for gadol is the anger and the wrath that Hashem hath pronounced against HaAm Hazeh.
8 And Baruch Ben Neriyah did according to all that Yirmeyah HaNavi commanded him, reading the Sefer Divrei Hashem in the Bais Hashem.
9 And it came to pass in the fifth year of Y’hoyakim Ben Yoshiyah Melech Yehudah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a tzom before Hashem to kol HaAm in Yerushalayim, and to kol HaAm that came from the towns of Yehudah unto Yerushalayim.

7 Perhaps they will bring their petition(A) before the Lord and will each turn(B) from their wicked ways, for the anger(C) and wrath pronounced against this people by the Lord are great.”
8 Baruch son of Neriah did everything Jeremiah the prophet told him to do; at the Lord’s temple he read the words of the Lord from the scroll. 9 In the ninth month(D) of the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, a time of fasting(E) before the Lord was proclaimed for all the people in Jerusalem and those who had come from the towns of Judah.
