And he showed me Joshua the High Priest, standing before the Angel of the LORD. And Satan stood at his right hand to resist him.

And the LORD said to Satan, “The LORD reproves you, O Satan! The LORD, Who has chosen Jerusalem, reproves you! Is not this a brand taken out of the fire?”

Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments and stood before the Angel.

And He answered and spoke to those who stood before him, saying, “Take away the filthy garments from him.” And to him He said, “Behold, I have caused your iniquity to depart from you. And I will clothe you with a change of raiment.”

And I said, “Let them set a clean turban upon his head.” So, they set a clean turban upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the Angel of the LORD stood by.

And the Angel of the LORD testified to Joshua, saying,

“Thus says the LORD of Hosts: ‘If you will walk in My ways, and keep My watch, you shall also judge My House, and shall also keep My courts. And I will give you a place to walk among those who stand by.

‘Hear now, O Joshua the High Priest, you and your friends who sit before you! For they are monstrous people. But behold, I will bring forth the Branch, My Servant.

‘For lo, the stone that I have laid before Joshua, upon one stone shall be seven eyes. Behold, I will carve out its engraving,’ says the LORD of Hosts, ‘and I will take away the iniquity of this land in one day.

10 ‘On that day,’ says the LORD of Hosts, ‘each man shall call his neighbor under his vine, and under his fig tree.’”

Clean Garments for the High Priest

Then he showed me Joshua(A) the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan[a](B) standing at his right side to accuse him. The Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you,(C) Satan! The Lord, who has chosen(D) Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick(E) snatched from the fire?”(F)

Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes.”

Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have taken away your sin,(G) and I will put fine garments(H) on you.”

Then I said, “Put a clean turban(I) on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him, while the angel of the Lord stood by.

The angel of the Lord gave this charge to Joshua: “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘If you will walk in obedience to me and keep my requirements,(J) then you will govern my house(K) and have charge(L) of my courts, and I will give you a place among these standing here.(M)

“‘Listen, High Priest(N) Joshua, you and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic(O) of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the Branch.(P) See, the stone I have set in front of Joshua!(Q) There are seven eyes[b](R) on that one stone,(S) and I will engrave an inscription on it,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and I will remove the sin(T) of this land in a single day.

10 “‘In that day each of you will invite your neighbor to sit(U) under your vine and fig tree,(V)’ declares the Lord Almighty.”

The Vision of the High Priest

Then I saw Joshua the High Priest standing in the presence of the angel of the Lord, with Satan[a] standing at his right to oppose him.

The Lord told Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan—in fact, may the Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! This man is a burning brand plucked from the fire, is he not?”

Now Joshua was wearing filthy clothes as he stood in the presence of the angel.

So the angel[b] continued to tell those who were standing in his presence, “Remove his filthy clothes.”

And he told Joshua,[c] “Look how I’ve removed your iniquity. Now I’m clothing you with fine garments.”

Then I said, “Let them place a pure diadem[d] on his head.”

So they placed the pure diadem[e] on his head and clothed him with fine garments while the angel of the Lord was standing beside them.[f]

The Lord’s Charge to Joshua

Then the angel of the Lord gave this charge to Joshua: “This is what the Lord of the Heavenly Armies says: ‘If you will live according to my ways, and if you will keep what I have entrusted to you,[g] then you will also administer my Temple, and you will also guard my courtyards. And I will give you access to these who serve[h] here.

“‘Listen, High Priest Joshua, you and those companions of yours who sit with you,[i] for these men are a sign that I am presenting my servant, the Branch.[j] Look, the stone that I put in place in Joshua’s presence—on that one stone are seven eyes.[k] And look, I will do the engraving myself,’ declares the Lord of the Heavenly Armies, ‘and I will remove the perversity of that land in a single day. 10 At that time,’[l] declares the Lord of the Heavenly Armies, ‘you will invite each of your neighbors to join you[m] under the vine and fig tree.’”

And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.

And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.

And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord stood by.

And the angel of the Lord protested unto Joshua, saying,

Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.

Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the Branch.

For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

10 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.
