Job 42 - Psalm 24

42 Then Job answered the LORD, and said,

“I know that You can do all things, and that there is no thought hidden from You.

“Who is he who hides counsel without knowledge? Therefore, I have spoken of that which I did not understand, things too wonderful for me and which I did not know.

“Please hear, and I will speak. I will ask You, and You tell me.

“I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear. But now my eye sees You.

“Therefore, I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.”

Now, after the LORD had spoken these words to Job, the LORD also said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends. For you have not spoken the thing that is right about Me, like my servant Job.

“Therefore, take to you now seven bullocks and seven rams and go to My servant, Job, and offer up for yourselves a Burnt Offering. And My servant, Job, shall pray for you. For I will accept him. Lest I should put you to shame because you have not spoken the thing which is right about Me, like my servant Job.”

So Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite, went and did according as the LORD had said to them. And the LORD accepted Job.

10 Then the LORD turned the fortunes of Job, when he prayed for his friends. Also, the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

11 Then all his brothers came to him, and all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, and ate bread with him in his house, and had compassion on him, and comforted him for all the misery that the LORD had brought upon him. And every man gave him a piece of money, and everyone an earring of gold.

12 So the LORD blessed the last days of Job more than the first. For he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand female donkeys.

13 He also had seven sons and three daughters.

14 And he called the name of one, Jemimah, and the name of the second, Keziah, and the name of the third, Keren-Happuch.

15 In all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job. And their father gave them inheritance among their brothers.

16 And after this, Job lived a hundred forty years, and saw his sons and his son’s sons, for four generations.

17 So Job died, being old and full of days.

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the Law of the LORD. And on His Law does he meditate day and night.

For he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters, that will bring forth her fruits in due season; whose leaf shall not fade. So, whatever he shall do shall prosper.

The wicked are not so; but are as the chaff which the wind drives away.

Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

For the LORD knows the way of the righteous. And the way of the wicked shall perish.

Why do the heathen rage, and the people murmur in vain?

The kings of the Earth stand together. And the Princes are assembled together against the LORD, and against His Christ.

Let us break their bands and cast their cords from us.

But he who dwells in the heavens shall laugh. The LORD shall hold them in derision.

Then shall He speak to them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure, saying,

“I have set My King upon Zion, My Holy Mountain.”

“I will declare the decree. The LORD has said to me, ‘You are My Son. This day have I begotten You.

“Ask of Me, and I shall give You the heathen for Your inheritance, and the ends of the Earth for Your possession.

“You shall crush them with a scepter of iron; and break them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.’”

10 Be wise now, therefore, you kings. Be learned, you judges of the Earth.

11 Serve the LORD in fear; and rejoice in trembling.

12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish on the way when His wrath shall suddenly burn. Blessed are all who trust in Him. A Psalm of David, when he fled from his son Absalom.

LORD, how my adversaries are increased? How many rise against me?

Many say to my soul, “There is no help for him in God.” Selah.

But You, LORD, are a buckler for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.

I called to the LORD with my voice, and He heard me out of His Holy Mountain. Selah.

I laid down and slept; and rose up again. For the LORD sustained me.

I will not be afraid of tens of thousands of people who should beset me all around.

O LORD, arise! Help me, my God! For You have struck all my enemies upon the cheekbone. You have broken the teeth of the wicked.

Salvation belongs to the LORD. And Your blessing is upon Your people. Selah. To him who excels on Neginoth: A Psalm of David.

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness. You have set me at liberty when I was in distress. Have mercy upon me and hear my prayer.

O you sons of men, how long will you turn my glory into shame, loving vanity and seeking lies? Selah.

But know that the LORD has chosen for Himself a godly man. The LORD will hear when I call to Him.

Tremble and do not sin. Examine your own heart upon your bed and be still. Selah.

Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and trust in the LORD.

Many say, “Who will show us good?” LORD, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.

You have given me more joy of heart than when their wheat and their wine abounded.

I will lay down, and also sleep, in peace. For You only, LORD, make me dwell in safety. To him who excels upon Nehiloth: A Psalm of David.

Hear my words, O LORD. Understand my meditation.

Hear the voice of my cry, my King and my God. For to you I pray.

Hear my voice in the morning, O LORD. In the morning I will direct myself to You, and I will wait.

For You are not a God Who loves wickedness, nor shall evil dwell with You.

The foolish shall not stand in Your sight. You hate all those who work iniquity.

You shall destroy those who speak lies. The LORD will abhor the bloody man, and deceitful.

But I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy. In Your fear I will worship toward Your Holy Temple.

Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness, because of my enemies. Make Your way plain before my face.

For no constancy is in their mouth. Inside they are very corruption. Their throat is an open sepulcher. They flatter with their tongue.

10 Destroy them, O God. Let them fall from their counsels. Cast them out for the multitude of their iniquities, because they have rebelled against You.

11 And let all those who trust in You rejoice, and triumph forever. And cover them. And let those who love Your Name rejoice in You.

12 For You, LORD, will bless the righteous. You will surround him with favor, as with a shield. To him who excels on Neginoth, upon the eight tune: A Psalm of David.

O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, nor chastise me in Your wrath.

Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am weak. O LORD, heal me, for my bones are vexed.

My soul is also very troubled. But LORD, how long will You delay?

Return, O LORD. Deliver my soul. Save me for Your mercy’s sake.

For in death there is no remembrance of You. In the grave, who shall praise You?

I fainted in my mourning. Every night I cause my bed to swim, and water my couch with my tears.

My eye is dimmed for grief, and sunk in because of all my enemies.

Away from me all you workers of iniquity. For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.

The LORD has heard my petition. The LORD will receive my prayer.

10 All my enemies shall be confounded and very vexed. They shall be turned back and put to shame suddenly. Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD, concerning the words of Cush, the son of Benjamin.

O LORD my God, in You I put my trust. Save me from all who persecute me, and deliver me,

lest he devour my soul like a lion, and tear it in pieces, while there is no one to help.

O LORD, my God, if I have done this thing, if there is any wickedness in my hands,

if I have rewarded evil to him who had peace with me (indeed, I have delivered him without cause),

let the enemies persecute my soul and take it. Indeed, let him tread my life down upon the Earth, and lay my honor in the dust. Selah.

Arise, O LORD, in Your wrath, and lift up Yourself against the rage of my enemies. Awaken me to the judgment You have appointed.

So shall the congregation of the people surround You. For their sakes, therefore, return on High.

The LORD shall judge the people. Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and according to my innocence in me.

Oh, let the malice of the wicked come to an end. But guide the just. For the righteous God tries the hearts and reins.

10 My defense is in God, Who preserves the upright in heart.

11 God judges the righteous, and he who denounces God, every day.

12 Unless he turns, He has sharpened His sword. He has bent His bow and made it ready.

13 He has also prepared deadly weapons. He will ordain His arrows for those who persecute.

14 Behold, he shall work with wickedness, for he has conceived mischief. But he shall bring forth a lie.

15 He has made a pit, and dug it, and has fallen into the pit he made.

16 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his cruelty shall fall upon his own head.

17 I will praise the LORD according to His righteousness and will sing praise to the Name of the LORD Most High. To him who excels on Gittith: A Psalm of David.

O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Your Name in all the world; Who has set Your Glory above the heavens!

Out of the mouth of children and infants You have ordained strength, because of Your enemies; that You might cease the enemy and the avenger.

When I behold Your heavens, the works of Your fingers; the moon and the stars which You have ordained,

what is man that You are mindful of him; and the son of man that You seek him?

For You have made him a little lower than God and crowned him with glory and worship.

You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands. You have put all things under his feet,

all sheep and oxen; indeed, and the beasts of the field,

the birds of the air and the fish of the sea; that which passes through the paths of the seas.

O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Your Name in all the world! To him who excels upon Muth Labben: A Psalm of David.

I will praise the LORD with my whole heart. I will speak of all Your marvelous works.

I will be glad and rejoice in You. I will sing praise to Your Name, O Most High,

because my enemies are turned back. They shall fall and perish at Your presence.

For You have maintained my right and my cause. You are set on the Throne, and judge righteously.

You have rebuked the heathen. You have destroyed the wicked. You have put out their name forever and ever.

O enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end. And you have destroyed the cities. Their memorial has perished with them.

But the LORD shall sit forever. He has prepared His throne for judgment.

For He shall judge the world in righteousness; shall judge the people with equity.

The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in time and in affliction.

10 And those who know Your Name will trust in You. For You, LORD, have not failed those who seek You.

11 Sing praises to the LORD, Who dwells in Zion. Show the people His works.

12 For when He enquires after blood, He remembers it; not forgetting the complaint of the poor.

13 Have mercy upon me, O LORD. Consider my trouble from those who hate me, You Who lifts me up from the gates of death,

14 so that I may show all Your praises within the gates of the daughter of Zion and rejoice in Your salvation.

15 The heathen are sunken down in the pit they made. Their foot is taken in the net they have hidden.

16 The LORD is known by executing judgment. The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.

17 The wicked shall return to Hell, and all nations that forget God.

18 For the poor shall not be always forgotten. The hope of the afflicted shall not perish forever.

19 Up LORD! Do not let man prevail! Let the heathen be judged in Your sight.

20 Put them in fear, O LORD, so that the heathen may know that they are but men. Selah.

10 Why do you stand afar off, O LORD, hiding Yourself in time of trouble?

With pride, the wicked persecute the poor. Let them be taken in the crafts that they have imagined.

For the wicked has boasted of his own heart’s desire; and the covetous blesses himself and despises the LORD.

The wicked is so proud that he does not seek. He thinks always, “There is no God.”

His ways always prosper. Your judgments are high above his sight. He defies all his enemies.

He says in his heart, “I shall never be moved, nor be in danger.”

His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud. Under his tongue is mischief and iniquity.

He lies in wait in the villages. He murders the innocent in the secret places. His eyes are bent against the poor.

He lies in wait secretly, as a lion in his den. He lies in wait to catch the poor. He catches the poor when he draws him into his net.

10 He crouches and bows. Therefore, heaps of the poor fall by his might.

11 He has said in his heart, “God has forgotten. He hides his face and will never see.”

12 Arise, O LORD God. Lift up Your hand. Do not forget the poor.

13 Why do the wicked despise God? He says in his heart, “You will not see.”

14 Yet You have seen it. For You behold mischief and wrong, so that You may take it into Your hands. The poor commits himself to You. You are the helper of the fatherless.

15 Break the arm of the wicked and malicious. Search his wickedness until you shall find none.

16 The LORD is King forever and ever. The heathen are destroyed from His land.

17 LORD, You have heard the desire of the oppressed. You prepare their heart. You bend Your ear

18 to vindicate the fatherless and oppressed, so that earthly man causes no more fear. To him who excels: A Psalm of David.

11 In the LORD I put my trust. How, then, can you say to my soul, “Flee to your mountain as a bird”?

For lo, the wicked bend their bow and make ready their arrows upon the string, so that they may secretly shoot at those who are upright in heart.

For if the foundations are cast down, what can the righteous do?

The LORD is in His Holy palace. The LORD’s throne is in the sky. His eyes behold. His eyelids try the children of men.

The LORD will try the righteous. But the wicked, and he who loves iniquity, His soul hates.

Upon the wicked He shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and stormy tempest. This is the portion of their cup.

For the righteous LORD loves righteousness. His face beholds the just. To him who excels upon the eight tune: A Psalm of David.

12 Help, LORD! For there is not a godly man left. For the faithful have failed from among the children of men.

They speak deceitfully, everyone with his neighbor; flattering with their lips, speaking with a double heart.

The LORD cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaks proud things,

which have said, “With our tongue we will prevail. Our lips are our own. Who is lord over us?”

“Now, for the oppression of the needy, for the sighs of the poor, I will arise;” says the LORD, “and will speak their deliverance.”

The Words of the LORD are pure Words, as silver, tried in a furnace of earth; refined sevenfold.

You will keep them, O LORD. You will preserve him from this generation, forever.

The wicked walk on every side. When they are exalted, it is a shame for the sons of men. To him who excels: A Psalm of David.

13 How long will You forget me, O LORD? Forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?

How long shall I take counsel within myself, having weariness daily in my heart? How long shall my enemy be exalted above me?

Behold. Hear me, O LORD, my God. Enlighten my eyes, so that I do not sleep in death,

lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him.” And those who afflict me rejoice when I slide.

But I trust in Your mercy. My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, because He has dealt lovingly with me. To him who excels: A Psalm of David.

14 The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They have corrupted; and done an abominable work. There is no one who does good.

The LORD looked down from Heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any who would understand, and seek God.

All have gone out of the way. They are all corrupt. There is no one who does good; no, not one.

Do not all the workers of iniquity know that they eat up my people as they eat bread? They do not call upon the LORD.

There they shall be taken with fear, because God is in the generation of the just.

You have shamed the counsel of the poor. But the LORD is his refuge.

Oh, give salvation to Israel out of Zion. When the LORD turns the captivity of His people, Jacob shall rejoice and Israel shall be glad. Note that Psalm 14:5-7, which are put into the common translation (and may seem to some to be left out here) are not in the same Psalm in the Hebrew text. Rather, they are put in more fully to express the manners of the wicked. They are gathered out of Psalms 5, 10, 36, 140, and Isaiah 59. They are alleged by Saint Paul and placed together in Romans 3. A Psalm of David.

15 LORD, who shall dwell in Your Tabernacle? Who shall rest on Your Holy Mountain?

He who walks uprightly and works righteousness and speaks the truth in his heart;

he who does not slander with his tongue, nor do evil to his neighbor, nor receive a false report against his neighbor;

in whose eyes a vile person is despised; but honors those who fear the LORD. He who swears to his own injury yet does not change.

He who does not give his money to usury, nor takes reward against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved. Michtam of David.

16 Preserve me, O God. For in You do I trust.

O my soul, you have said to the LORD, “You are my LORD. My goodness is not, but for You.”

To the saints who are on the Earth, and to the excellent, all my delight is in them.

The sorrows of those who offer to another god shall be multiplied. Their offerings of blood I will not offer; nor make mention of their names with my lips.

The LORD is the portion of my inheritance, and of my cup. You shall maintain my lot.

The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places. Indeed, I have a fair heritage.

I will praise the LORD Who has given me counsel. My core also teaches me in the nights.

I have set the LORD always before me. For He is at my right hand. Therefore, I shall not slide.

Therefore, my heart is glad. And my tongue rejoices. My flesh, also, rests in hope.

10 For You will not leave my soul in the grave. Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

11 You will show me the path of life. In Your presence is the fullness of joy. And at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore. The prayer of David.

17 Hear what is right, O LORD. Consider my cry. Hear my prayer of unfeigned lips.

Let my sentence come forth from Your presence. And let Your eyes behold equity.

You have tested and visited my heart in the night. You have tried me and found nothing. For I have purposed that my mouth should not offend.

Concerning the works of men, by the words of Your lips I kept myself from the paths of the cruel man.

Keep my steps in Your paths, so that my feet do not slide.

I have called upon You. Surely You will hear me, O God. Incline Your ear to me and hear my words.

Show Your marvelous mercies, You Who are the Savior of those who trust in You from such as resist Your right hand.

Keep me as the apple of Your eye. Hide me under the shadow of Your wings

from the wicked who oppress me, from my enemies who surround me for my soul.

10 They are enclosed in their own fat. They have spoken proudly with their mouth.

11 They have surrounded us now in our steps. They have set their eyes to bring us down to the ground.

12 Like a lion that is greedy for prey (and as it were a lion’s whelp) lurking in secret places.

13 Arise, LORD! Disappoint him! Cast him down! Deliver my soul from the wicked with Your sword;

14 from men, by Your hand, O LORD; from men of the world who have their portion in this life; whose bellies You fill with Your hidden treasure. Their children have enough and leave the rest of their substance for their children.

15 But I will behold Your face in righteousness. And when I awake, I shall be satisfied with Your image. To him who excels: A Psalm of David, the servant of the LORD. Who spoke to the LORD the words of this song on the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies (and from the hand of Saul) and said,

18 I will love You dearly, O LORD, my strength.

The LORD is my rock and my fortress; and He Who delivers me, my God and my strength. In Him will I trust. My shield. The horn, also, of my salvation. My refuge.

I will call upon the LORD, Who is worthy to be praised. So shall I be safe from my enemies.

The sorrows of death surrounded me. And the floods of wickedness made me afraid.

The sorrows of the grave have surrounded me. The snares of death overtook me.

But in my trouble, I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God. He heard my voice out of His Temple. And my cry came before Him, into His ears.

Then the Earth trembled and quaked. The foundations of the mountains also moved and shook because He was angry.

Smoke went out at His nostrils; and a consuming fire out of His mouth, at which coals were kindled.

He also bowed the heavens and came down, and darkness was under His feet.

10 And He rode upon a cherub and flew. And He came flying upon the wings of the wind.

11 He made darkness His secret place, his pavilion all around Him; darkness of waters and clouds of the air.

12 At the brightness of His presence, His clouds passed; hailstones and coals of fire.

13 The LORD also thundered in the heaven, and the Highest gave His voice; hailstones and coals of fire.

14 Then He sent out His arrows and scattered them. And He increased lightnings and destroyed them.

15 And the channels of waters were seen. And the foundations of the world were discovered at Your rebuking, O LORD; at the blasting of the breath of Your nostrils.

16 He has sent down from above and taken me. He has drawn me out of many waters.

17 He has delivered me from my strong enemy, and from those who hate me. For they were too strong for me.

18 They confronted me on the day of my calamity. But the LORD was my stay.

19 He also brought me forth into a large place. He delivered me because He favored me.

20 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness. According to the pureness of my hand, He recompensed me,

21 because I kept the ways of the LORD and did not do wickedly against my God.

22 For all His laws were before me. And I did not cast away His Commandments from me.

23 I was also upright with him and have kept myself from my wickedness.

24 Therefore, the LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the pureness of my hands in His sight.

25 With the godly, You will show Yourself godly. With the upright man, You will show Yourself upright.

26 With the pure, You will show Yourself pure. And with the froward, You will show Yourself froward.

27 Thus, You will save the poor people, and will cast down proud looks.

28 Surely, You will light my candle. The LORD, my God, will lighten my darkness.

29 For You I have broken through an army. And by my God I have leapt over a wall.

30 The way of God is incorrupt. The Word of the LORD is tried in the fire. He is a shield to those who trust in Him.

31 For who is God besides the LORD? And who is mighty except our God?

32 God girds me with strength and makes my way upright.

33 He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and sets me upon my high places.

34 He teaches my hands to fight, so that a bow of brass is broken with my arms.

35 You have also given me the shield of Your salvation. And Your right hand has upheld me. And Your lovingkindness has caused me to increase.

36 You have enlarged my steps under me, and my heels have not slid.

37 I have pursued my enemies, and taken them, and have not turned again until I had vanquished them.

38 I have wounded them, so that they were not able to rise. They have fallen under my feet.

39 For You have girded me with strength for battle. Those who rose against me, You have subdued under me.

40 And You have given me the necks of my enemies, so that I might destroy those who hate me.

41 They cried, but there was no one to save them; and to the LORD, but He did not answer them.

42 Then I beat them fine as the dust before the wind. I tread them flat as the clay in the streets.

43 You have delivered me from the contentions of the people. You have made me the head of the heathen. A people I have not known shall serve me.

44 As soon as they hear, they shall obey me. The strangers shall be in subjection to me.

45 Strangers shall shrink away, and fear in their borders.

46 Let the LORD live and blessed be my strength. And the God of my salvation be exalted.

47 It is God Who avenges me and subdues the people under me.

48 O, my Deliverer from my enemies, You have lifted me up from those who rose against me! You have delivered me from the cruel man.

49 Therefore, I will praise You among the nations, O LORD, and will sing to Your Name.

50 He gives great deliverances to His king and shows mercy to His anointed; to David, and to his seed, forever. To him who excels: A Psalm of David.

19 The heavens declare the Glory of God, and the firmament shows the work of His Hands.

Day unto day utters the same, and night unto night teaches knowledge.

There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.

Their line has gone forth through all the earth; and their words into the ends of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the Sun,

which comes forth as a bridegroom out of his chamber, and rejoices like a mighty man to run his race.

His going out is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit is to the ends of the same, and nothing is hidden from the heat thereof.

The Law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul. The testimony of the LORD is sure and gives wisdom to the simple.

The Statutes of the LORD are right and rejoice the heart. The Commandment of the LORD is pure and gives light to the eyes.

The fear of the LORD is clean and endures forever. The judgments of the LORD are truth. They are righteous altogether,

10 and more to be desired than gold—yea, than much fine gold—sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

11 Moreover, by them your servant is made circumspect, and in the keeping of them there is great reward.

12 Who can understand his faults? Cleanse me from secret faults.

13 Keep your servant from presumptuous sins, also. Do not let them reign over me. So, shall I be upright and made clean from much wickedness.

14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD my strength, and my redeemer. To him who excels. A Psalm of David.

20 The LORD hear you on the day of trouble. The Name of the God of Jacob defend you;

send you help from the Sanctuary and strengthen you out of Zion.

Let Him remember all your offerings and turn your burnt offerings into ashes. Selah.

Grant you according to your heart and fulfill all your purpose,

so that we may rejoice in your salvation—and set up the banner in the Name of our God—when the LORD shall perform all your petitions.

Now I know that the LORD will help His anointed; and will hear him from His Sanctuary, by the mighty help of His right hand.

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses. But we will remember the Name of the LORD our God.

They are brought down and fallen. But we are risen and stand upright.

Save, LORD! Let the king hear us on the day that we call! To him who excels: A Psalm of David.

21 The king shall rejoice in Your strength, O LORD. Indeed, how greatly shall he rejoice in Your salvation!

You have given him his heart’s desire and have not denied the request of his lips. Selah.

For You meet him with liberal blessings and set a crown of pure gold upon his head.

He asked life of You, and You gave him a long life forever and ever.

His glory is great in Your salvation. Dignity and honor You have laid upon him.

For You have set him as most blessed forever. You have made him glad with the joy of Your countenance.

Because the king trusts in the LORD, and in the mercy of the Most High, he shall not slide.

Your hand shall find out all Your enemies. And Your right hand shall find out those who hate You.

You shall make them like a fiery oven in time of Your anger. The LORD shall destroy them in His wrath. And the fire shall devour them.

10 You shall destroy their fruit from the Earth, and their seed from the children of men.

11 For they intended evil against You and imagined mischief. But they shall not prevail.

12 Therefore, You shall make them turn their back. And You shall make ready the strings of Your bow against their faces.

13 Be exalted, O LORD, in Your strength. So, will we sing and praise Your power. To him who excels upon Aijeleth Hashahar: A Psalm of David.

22 My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me; are so far from My health and from the words of My roaring?

O, My God, I cry by day, but You do not hear; and by night but have no audience.

But You are Holy and inhabit the praises of Israel.

Our fathers trusted in You. They trusted, and You delivered them.

They called upon You and were delivered. They trusted in You and were not confounded.

But I am a worm, and not a man, a shame of men and the contempt of the people.

All those who see Me, hold Me in derision. They shoot out the lip and nod the head, saying,

“He trusted in the LORD. Let Him deliver Him. Let Him save Him, seeing He loves Him.”

But You drew Me out of the womb. You gave Me hope, even at My mother’s breasts.

10 I was cast upon You, even from the womb. You are My God, from My mother’s belly.

11 Be not far from Me, because trouble is near. For there is no one to help.

12 Many young bulls have surrounded Me. Mighty bulls of Bashan have encircled Me.

13 They gape upon Me with their mouths, a ramping and roaring lion.

14 I am like water poured out; and all My bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax. It is molten in the midst of My core.

15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and My tongue clings to My jaws; and You have brought Me into the dust of death.

16 For dogs have surrounded Me; the assembly of the wicked have encircled Me. They pierced My hands and My feet.

17 I count all My bones. They behold and look upon Me.

18 They part My garments among them and cast lots upon My clothing.

19 But be not afar off, O LORD, My strength. Hasten to help Me.

20 Deliver My soul from the sword, my desolate soul from the power of the dog.

21 Save Me from the lion’s mouth; and answer Me in saving Me from the horns of the unicorns.

22 I will declare Your Name to My brothers. In the midst of the Congregation will I praise You.

23 Praise the LORD, you who fear Him! Magnify Him, all the seed of Jacob; and fear Him, all the seed of Israel!

24 For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the poor. Nor has He hidden His face from Him, but when He called to Him, He heard.

25 My praise shall be of You in the great Congregation. I will perform My vows before those who fear Him.

26 The poor shall eat and be satisfied. Those who seek after the LORD shall praise Him. Your heart shall live forever.

27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the LORD; and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before You.

28 For the Kingdom is the LORD’s; and He rules among the nations.

29 All those who are fat on the Earth shall eat and worship. All those who go down into the dust shall bow before Him, even him who cannot quicken his own soul.

30 Their seed shall serve Him. It shall be counted to the LORD for a generation.

31 They shall come and shall declare His righteousness to a people who shall be born, because He has done it. A Psalm of David.

23 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me to rest in green pasture and leads me by the still waters.

He restores my soul and leads me in the paths of righteousness, for His Name’s sake.

Indeed, though I should walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the sight of my adversaries. You anoint my head with oil; and my cup runs over.

Doubtless, kindness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. And I shall remain in the House of the LORD forever. A Psalm of David.

24 The Earth is the LORD’s and all that therein is, the world and those who dwell therein.

For He has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the floods.

Who shall ascend into the Mountain of the LORD? And who shall stand in His Holy Place?

He who has innocent hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his mind to vanity nor sworn deceitfully.

He shall receive a blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

This is the generation of those who seek Him, of those who seek Your face. This is Jacob. Selah.

Lift up your heads, you gates. And be lifted up, you everlasting doors. And the King of Glory shall come in.

Who is this King of Glory: The LORD, strong and mighty. The LORD, mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, you gates. And lift up yourselves, you everlasting doors. And the King of Glory shall come in.

10 Who is this King of Glory: The LORD of Hosts. He is the King of Glory. Selah. A Psalm of David.
