The Statutes of Burnt Offerings

Then [a](A)Yahweh called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying, “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When any man from among you brings an [b](B)offering near to Yahweh, you shall bring your [c]offering of animals from (C)the herd or the flock. If his offering is a (D)burnt offering from the herd, he shall bring it near, a male (E)without blemish; he shall bring it near (F)to the doorway of the tent of meeting, that he may be accepted before Yahweh. (G)And he shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, that it may be accepted for him to make (H)atonement on his behalf. (I)Then he shall slaughter the [d]young bull before Yahweh; and Aaron’s sons the priests shall bring near (J)the blood and (K)splash the blood around on the altar that is at the doorway of the tent of meeting. (L)And he shall then skin the burnt offering and cut it into its pieces. (M)And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire. Then Aaron’s sons the priests shall arrange the pieces, the head, and the (N)suet over the wood which is on the fire that is on the altar. Its (O)entrails, however, and its legs he shall wash with water. And (P)the priest shall offer up in smoke all of it on the altar for a burnt offering, an offering by fire of (Q)a soothing aroma to Yahweh.

10 ‘But if his offering is from the flock, of the sheep or of the goats, for a burnt offering, he shall bring near a (R)male without blemish. 11 (S)And he shall slaughter it on the side of the altar northward before Yahweh, and Aaron’s sons the priests shall splash its blood around on the altar. 12 He shall then cut it into its pieces with its head and its (T)suet, and the priest shall arrange them on the wood which is on the fire that is on the altar. 13 The entrails, however, and the legs he shall wash with water. And (U)the priest shall bring all of it near and offer it up in smoke on the altar; it is a burnt offering, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to Yahweh.

14 ‘But if his offering to Yahweh is a burnt offering of birds, then he shall bring near his offering from the (V)turtledoves or from young pigeons. 15 And the priest shall bring it near to the altar and wring off its head and offer it up in smoke on the altar; and its blood is to be drained out (W)on the side of the altar. 16 He shall also take away its crop with its feathers and cast it beside the altar eastward, to the place of the [e](X)ashes. 17 Then he shall tear it by its wings, but (Y)he shall not separate it. And the priest shall offer it up in smoke on the altar on the wood which is on the fire; (Z)it is a burnt offering, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to Yahweh.

The Statutes of Grain Offerings

‘Now when anyone brings near a (AA)grain offering as an offering to Yahweh, his offering shall be of fine flour, and he shall pour oil on it and put frankincense on it. He shall then bring it to Aaron’s sons the priests; and he shall take from it (AB)his handful of its fine flour and of its oil with all of its frankincense. And the priest shall offer it up in smoke as its (AC)memorial portion on the altar, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to Yahweh. (AD)And the remainder of the grain offering belongs to (AE)Aaron and his sons: a thing most holy of the offerings to Yahweh by fire.

‘Now when you bring near an offering of a grain offering baked in an oven, it shall be (AF)unleavened cakes of fine flour mixed with oil or unleavened wafers [f]spread with oil. And if your offering is a grain offering made (AG)on the griddle, it shall be of fine flour, unleavened, mixed with oil; you shall break it into bits and pour oil on it; it is a grain offering. Now if your offering is a grain offering made (AH)in a [g]pan, it shall be made of fine flour with oil. And you will bring in the grain offering which is made of these things to Yahweh, and it shall be brought near to the priest, and he shall bring it to the altar. The priest then shall raise up from the grain offering (AI)its memorial portion, and he shall offer it up in smoke on the altar as an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to Yahweh. 10 (AJ)And the remainder of the grain offering belongs to Aaron and his sons: a thing most holy of the offerings to Yahweh by fire.

11 (AK)No grain offering, which you bring near to Yahweh, shall be made with leaven, for you shall not offer [h]up in smoke any leaven or any honey as an (AL)offering by fire to Yahweh. 12 (AM)As an offering of first fruits you shall bring them near to Yahweh, but they shall not ascend for a soothing aroma on the altar. 13 Every grain offering of yours, moreover, you shall season with salt, so that (AN)the salt of the covenant of your God shall not be lacking from your grain offering; with all your offerings you shall bring salt near.

14 ‘Also if you bring near a grain offering of early ripened things to Yahweh, you shall bring near (AO)fresh heads of grain roasted in the fire, grits of new growth, for the grain offering of your early ripened things. 15 You shall then put oil on it and place frankincense on it; it is a grain offering. 16 And the priest shall offer up in smoke (AP)its memorial portion, part of its grits and its oil with all its frankincense as an offering by fire to Yahweh.

The Statutes of Peace Offerings

‘Now if his offering is a (AQ)sacrifice of peace offerings, if he is going to bring near one from the herd, whether male or female, he shall bring it near (AR)without blemish before Yahweh. (AS)Then he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering and (AT)slaughter it at the doorway of the tent of meeting, and Aaron’s sons the priests shall splash the blood around on the altar. From the sacrifice of the peace offerings he shall bring an offering by fire near to Yahweh, the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the [i]lobe of the liver, which he shall remove with the kidneys. Then (AU)Aaron’s sons shall offer it up in smoke on the altar (AV)on the burnt offering, which is on the wood that is on the fire; (AW)it is an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to Yahweh. But if his offering for a sacrifice of peace offerings to Yahweh is from the flock, he shall bring it near, male or female, (AX)without blemish. If he is going to bring near (AY)a lamb for his offering, then he shall bring it near (AZ)before Yahweh, and (BA)he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering and (BB)slaughter it before the tent of meeting, and Aaron’s sons shall (BC)splash its blood around on the altar. And from the (BD)sacrifice of peace offerings he shall bring near as an offering by fire to Yahweh its fat, [j]the entire fat tail which he shall remove close to the backbone, and the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, 10 and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the [k]lobe of the liver, which he shall remove (BE)with the kidneys. 11 Then the priest shall offer it up in smoke (BF)on the altar as (BG)food, an offering by fire to Yahweh.

12 ‘Moreover, if his offering is (BH)a goat, then he shall bring it near before Yahweh, 13 and he shall lay his hand on its head and slaughter it before the tent of meeting, and the sons of Aaron shall splash its blood around on the altar. 14 And from it he shall bring near his offering as an offering by fire to Yahweh the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, 15 and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the [l]lobe of the liver, which he shall remove (BI)with the kidneys. 16 And the priest shall offer them up in smoke on the altar as food, an offering by fire for a soothing aroma; (BJ)all fat is Yahweh’s. 17 It is a (BK)perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your places of habitation: you shall not eat any fat (BL)or any blood.’”

Mark 1:29-2:12

Simon’s Mother-in-Law and Many Others Healed

29 (A)And immediately after they came (B)out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30 Now Simon’s mother-in-law was lying sick with a fever; and immediately they *spoke to [a]Jesus about her. 31 And He came to her and raised her up, taking her by the hand, and the fever left her, and she [b]began waiting on them.

32 (C)Now when evening came, (D)after the sun had set, they began bringing to Him all who were ill and those who were (E)demon-possessed. 33 And the whole (F)city had gathered at the door. 34 And He (G)healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.

35 (H)And in the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus rose up, went out of the house, and went away to a desolate place, and (I)was praying there. 36 And Simon and his companions searched for Him; 37 and they found Him, and *said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.” 38 And He *said to them, “Let us go elsewhere, to the towns nearby, so that I may [c]preach there also; for that is what I came out for.” 39 (J)And He went, [d]preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee and casting out the demons.

40 (K)And a leper *came to [e]Jesus, pleading with Him and (L)falling on his knees before Him, and saying, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” 41 And moved with compassion, He stretched out His hand and touched him, and *said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” 42 And immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed. 43 And He sternly warned him and immediately sent him away, 44 and He *said to him, (M)See that you say nothing to anyone; but (N)go, show yourself to the priest and (O)offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.” 45 But he went out and began to (P)proclaim it freely and to (Q)spread the news around, to such an extent that [f]Jesus could no longer publicly enter a city, but [g]stayed out in desolate areas; and (R)they were coming to Him from everywhere.

Jesus Heals a Paralytic

And when He had come back to Capernaum several days afterward, it was heard that He was at home. And (S)many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room, not even near the door; and He was speaking the word to them. (T)And they *came, bringing to Him a (U)paralytic, carried by four men. And being unable to bring him to [h]Jesus because of the crowd, they (V)removed the roof over where He was; and when they had dug an opening, they let down the mat where the (W)paralytic was lying. And Jesus seeing their faith *said to the paralytic, “Child, (X)your sins are forgiven.” But some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, “Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming; (Y)who can forgive sins [i]but God alone?” Immediately Jesus, aware [j]in His spirit that they were reasoning that way within themselves, *said to them, “Why are you reasoning about these things in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the (Z)paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven’; or to say, ‘Get up, and pick up your mat and walk’? 10 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—He *said to the paralytic, 11 “I say to you, get up, pick up your mat, and go to your home.” 12 And he got up and immediately picked up the mat and went out before everyone, so that they were all amazed and (AA)were glorifying God, saying, “(AB)We have never seen anything like this.”

Psalm 35:17-28

17 Lord, (A)how long will You look on?
Bring back my soul (B)from their ravages,
My (C)only life from the lions.
18 I will (D)give You thanks in the great assembly;
I will (E)praise You among a mighty people.
19 (F)Let those who are wrongfully (G)my enemies not be glad over me;
Nor let those (H)who hate me without cause [a](I)wink maliciously.
20 For they do not speak peace,
But they devise (J)deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.
21 They (K)opened their mouth wide against me;
They said, “(L)Aha, aha, our eyes have seen it!”

22 (M)You have seen it, O Yahweh, (N)do not keep silent;
O Lord, (O)do not be far from me.
23 (P)Stir up Yourself, and awake to my justice
And to my cause, my God and my Lord.
24 (Q)Judge me, O Yahweh my God, according to Your righteousness,
And (R)do not let them be glad over me.
25 Do not let them say in their heart, “(S)Aha, our desire!”
Do not let them say, “We have (T)swallowed him up!”
26 Let (U)those be ashamed and humiliated altogether who are glad at the evil done to me;
Let those be (V)clothed with shame and dishonor who (W)magnify themselves over me.

27 Let them (X)shout for joy and be glad, who delight in (Y)my righteousness;
And (Z)let them say continually, “Yahweh be magnified,
Who (AA)delights in the peace of His slave.”
28 And (AB)my tongue shall utter Your righteousness
And Your praise all day long.

Proverbs 9:13-18

13 The woman of [a]foolishness is (A)boisterous,
A woman of simplicity, and (B)does not know anything.
14 She sits at the doorway of her house,
On a seat by (C)the high places of the city,
15 To call to those who pass by that way,
Who are making their paths straight:
16 (D)Whoever is simple, let him turn in here,”
And to him who lacks a heart of wisdom she says,
17 “Stolen water is sweet;
And (E)bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”
18 But he does not know that the [b]dead are there,
That those she called are in the (F)depths of Sheol.
