25 And Nadab, the son of Jeroboam, began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa, king of Judah, and reigned over Israel for two years.
26 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, walking in the way of his father, and in his sin with which he made Israel sin.
27 And Baasha, the son of Ahijah, of the House of Issachar, conspired against him. And Baasha killed him at Gibbethon (which belonged to the Philistines). For Nadab and all Israel laid siege to Gibbethon.
28 In the third year of Asa, king of Judah, Baasha killed him and reigned in his place.
29 And when he was king, he struck all the House of Jeroboam. He left no one alive for Jeroboam until he had destroyed him according to the Word of the LORD which he spoke by his servant, Ahijah the Shilonite,
30 because of the sins of Jeroboam which he committed, and with which he made Israel sin by his provocation with which he provoked the LORD God of Israel.
31 And the rest of the acts of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
32 And there was war between Asa and Baasha, king of Israel, all their days.
33 In the third year of Asa, king of Judah, Baasha the son of Ahijah began to reign over all Israel in Tirzah and reigned for twenty-four years.
34 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin with which he made Israel sin.
16 Then, the Word of the LORD came to Jehu, the son of Hanani, against Baasha, saying,
2 “Because I exalted you out of the dust, and made you captain over My people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam, and have made My people Israel sin, to provoke Me with their sins,
3 “behold, I will take away the posterity of Baasha, and the posterity of his House, and will make your House like the House of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat.
4 “He of Baasha’s stock who dies in the city, him shall the dogs eat. And the man from him who dies in the fields, shall the birds of the air eat.”
5 And the rest of the acts of Baasha, and what he did, and his power, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
6 So, Baasha slept with his fathers and was buried in Tirzah. And Elah, his son, reigned in his place.
7 And also, the Word of the LORD came to Baasha, and to his House, by the hand of Jehu, the son of Hanani the Prophet: that he would be like the House of Jeroboam for all the wickedness that he had done in the sight of the LORD, in provoking Him with the work of his hands, and because he had killed.
8 During the twenty-six years of Asa, king of Judah, Elah, the son of Baasha, began to reign over Israel in Tirzah, for two years.
9 And his servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him, as he was in Tirzah drinking, until he was drunk in the house of Arza, steward of his house in Tirzah.
10 And Zimri came and struck him, and killed him, within the twenty-seven years of Asa, king of Judah, and reigned in his place.
11 And when he was king, and sat on his throne, he killed all the House of Baasha, not leaving one man of it, neither of his kinsfolk nor of his friends.
12 So, Zimri destroyed all the House of Baasha, according to the Word of the LORD which He spoke against Baasha by the hand of Jehu the Prophet,
13 for all the sins of Baasha and sins of Elah, his son, which they sinned and made Israel sin and provoked the LORD God of Israel with their vanities.
14 And the rest of the acts of Elah, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
15 During the twenty-seven years of Asa, king of Judah, Zimri reigned for seven days in Tirzah. And the people were then encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines.
16 And the people of the army heard say, “Zimri has conspired, and has also killed the king!” Therefore, all Israel made Omri the captain of the army, king over Israel, that same day, in the camp.
17 Then Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah.
18 And when Zimri saw that the city had been taken, he went into the palace of the king’s house and burnt himself and the king’s house with fire, and so died
19 for his sins which he sinned in doing that which is evil in the sight of the LORD, in walking in the way of Jeroboam and in his sins which he did, causing Israel to sin.
20 And the rest of the acts of Zimri and his treason that he worked, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
21 Then, the people of Israel were divided into two parts: half the people followed Tibni, the son of Ginath, to make him king, and the other half followed Omri.
22 But the people who followed Omri prevailed against the people who followed Tibni, the son of Ginath. So Tibni died and Omri reigned.
23 During the thirty-one years of Asa, king of Judah, Omri began to reign over Israel, for twelve years. For six years he reigned in Tirzah.
24 And he bought the mountain, Samaria, from one Shemer for two talents of silver. And he built on the mountain and called the name of the city which he built after the name of Shemer, lord of the mountain: Samaria.
25 But Omri did evil in the Eyes of the LORD and did worse than all who were before him.
26 For he walked in all the ways of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, and in his sins with which he made Israel sin in provoking the LORD God of Israel with their vanities.
27 And the rest of the acts of Omri that he did, and his strength that he showed, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
28 And Omri slept with his fathers and was buried in Samaria. And Ahab, his son, reigned in his place.
29 Now Ahab, the son of Omri, began to reign over Israel, during the thirty-eight years of Asa, king of Judah. And Ahab, the son of Omri, reigned over Israel in Samaria for twenty-two years.
30 And Ahab, the son of Omri, did worse in the sight of the LORD than all who were before him.
31 For as it happened, it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat. For he also took Jezebel, the daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Sidonians, as a wife, and went and served Baal and worshipped him.
32 Also, he raised up an altar to Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.
33 And Ahab made a grove. And Ahab proceeded, and provoked the LORD God of Israel more than all the kings of Israel who were before him.
34 In his days, Hiel the Bethelite built Jericho. He laid its foundation in Abiram, his eldest son, and set up its gates in his youngest son, Segub, according to the Word of the LORD which He spoke by Joshua, the son of Nun.
17 And Elijah the Tishbite, one of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the LORD God of Israel lives, before Whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, but according to my Word.”
2 And the Word of the LORD came to him, saying:
3 “Go, and turn eastward, and hide yourself near the river, Cherith, that faces Jordan.
4 “And you shall drink from the river. And I have Commanded the ravens to feed you there.”
5 So he went and did according to the Word of the LORD. For he went and remained by the river, Cherith, that faces Jordan.
6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening. And he drank from the river.
7 And after a while, the river dried up, because no rain fell upon the Earth.
8 And the Word of the LORD came to him, saying:
9 “Up! Get to Zarephath, which is in Sidon, and remain there. Behold, I have Commanded a widow there to sustain you.”
10 So, he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow was there, gathering sticks. And he called her, and said, “Please bring me a little water in a vessel, so that I may drink.”
11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.”
12 And she said, “As the LORD your God lives, I do not have a cake, but only a handful of meal in a barrel and a little oil in a jar. And behold, I am gathering a few sticks with which to go in and prepare it for me and my son, so that we may eat it, and die.”
13 And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear. Come, do as you have said. But make me a little cake from it first and bring it to me. And afterward make some for you and your son.
14 “For thus says the LORD God of Israel: ‘The meal in the barrel shall not be finished, nor shall the oil in the jar be depleted, until the time that the LORD sends rain upon the Earth.’”
15 So she went and did as Elijah said. And she ate. So did he and her house for a certain time.
16 The barrel of the meal was not used up, nor was the oil in the jar finished, according to the Word of the LORD which He spoke by the hand of Elijah.
17 And after these things, the son of the wife of the house fell sick. And his sickness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.
18 And she said to Elijah, “What have I to do with you, O you man of God? Have you come to me to call my sin to remembrance, and to kill my son?”
19 And he said to her, “Give me your son.” And he took him out of her bosom and carried him up into a chamber where he was staying and laid him upon his own bed.
20 Then he called to the LORD, and said, “O LORD, my God! Have You also punished this widow with whom I sojourn by killing her son?”
21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times and called to the LORD, and said, “O LORD my God! I pray, let this child’s soul come into him again.”
22 Then the LORD heard the voice of Elijah. And the soul of the child came into him again. And he revived.
23 And Elijah took the child and brought him down, out of the chamber, into the house, and delivered him to his mother. And Elijah said, “Behold, your son lives.”
24 And the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the Word of the LORD in your mouth is true!”
24 And the day after that, they entered into Caesarea. Now Cornelius waited for them and had called together his family and special friends.
25 And it so happened, as Peter came in, that Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
26 But Peter lifted him up, saying, “Stand up. For I myself am also a man.”
27 And as he talked with him, he came in and found many who had gathered.
28 And he said to them, “You know that it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to keep company with, or come near, one of another Nation. But God has shown me that I should not call any man common, or unclean.
29 “Therefore I came to you without saying no when I was summoned. I ask, then, the reason why have you sent for me?”
30 Then Cornelius said, “Four days ago, about this hour, I fasted. And at the ninth hour, I prayed in my house. And behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
31 “and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer is heard. And your alms are held in remembrance in the sight of God.
32 ‘Therefore, send to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter (he is lodged in the house of Simon a Tanner by the seaside) When he comes, he shall speak to you.’
33 “Then sent I for you immediately. And you have done well to come. Now, therefore, are we all present here before God to hear all things that have been commanded you by God.”
34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, “Truthfully, I perceive that God is no respecter of persons.
35 “But in every Nation, the one who fears Him, and works righteousness, is acceptable to Him.
36 “The Word - which God has sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ, Who is Lord of all -
37 “you know the Word which came through all Judea, beginning in Galilee, after the Baptism which John preached;
38 “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost, and with power - Who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil - for God was with Him.
39 “And we are witnesses of all things done by Him Whom they killed and hung on a tree (things in both the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem).
40 “God raised Him up the third day, and showed Him openly -
41 “not to all the people, but to the witnesses chosen by God beforehand - to those of us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.
42 “And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that He has been ordained by God as a judge of quick and dead.
43 “To Him also give all the Prophets witness, that through His Name all who believe in Him shall receive forgiveness of sins.”
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Ghost fell upon all those who heard the word.
45 So those of the circumcision who believed (as many as had come with Peter), were astonished because the gift of the Holy Ghost was also poured out on the Gentiles.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered,
47 “Can anyone forbid water, so that these who have received the Holy Ghost, as we have, should not be baptized?”
48 So he commanded them to be baptized in the Name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay some days.
134 Behold! Praise the LORD all you servants of the LORD, who stand in the House of the LORD by night!
2 Lift up your hands to the Sanctuary and praise the LORD!
3 The LORD, Who has made Heaven and Earth, bless you out of Zion. Praise the LORD
9 Whoever covers a transgression, seeks love. But whoever repeats a matter, separates the prince.
10 A reproof enters more into the wise than a hundred stripes into a fool.
11 A seditious person seeks only evil; and a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
