Revised Geneva Translation (RGT)
Version
Jeremiah 2:31-4:18

31 “O generation, take heed to the Word of the LORD! Have I been a wilderness to Israel, or a land of darkness? Why, then, do My people say, ‘We are lords. We will come no more to You?’

32 “Can a maid forget her ornament, or a bride her attire? Yet My people have forgotten Me, days without number.

33 “Why do you beautify your ways, to seek love? Therefore, you will also teach the wicked your ways.

34 “Also in your wings is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents. I have not found it in holes, but upon all these.

35 “Yet you say, ‘Because I am guiltless, surely His wrath shall turn from me.’ Behold, I will enter into judgment with you because you say, ‘I have not sinned.’

36 “Why do you run around so much to change your ways? For you shall be confounded by Egypt as you are confounded by Assyria.

37 “For you shall go forth from there, and your hands upon your head, because the LORD has rejected your confidence, and you shall not prosper thereby.”

“They say, ‘If a man puts away his wife, and she goes from him, and becomes another man’s, shall he return again to her? Shall not this land be polluted?’ But you have played the harlot, with many lovers, yet turn again to me,” says the LORD.

“Lift up your eyes to the high places, and behold where you have not played the harlot. You have sat, waiting for them on the way, as the Arabian in the wilderness. And you have polluted the land with your whoredoms, and with your malice.

“Therefore the showers have been restrained, and the latter rain came not, and you had a whore’s forehead. You would not be ashamed.

“Did you not still cry to Me, ‘You are My Father, the guide of my youth?

‘Will He keep His anger forever? Will He reserve it to the end?’ Thus have you spoken, but you still do evil, more and more.”

The LORD also said to me in the days of Josiah the king, “Have you seen what this rebel Israel has done? She has gone up upon every high mountain, and under every green tree, and there played the harlot.

“And I said, when she had done all this, ‘Turn to Me.’ But she did not return, as her rebellious sister Judah saw.

“Then I saw how that for all the occasions rebellious Israel had played the harlot, and I had cast her away and given her a bill of divorcement, yet her rebellious sister, Judah, was not afraid. And she also went and played the harlot.

“So that because of the lightness of her whoredom, she has even defiled the land. For she has committed fornication with stones and trees.

10 “Nevertheless, for all this, her rebellious sister Judah has not returned to Me with her whole heart, but deceptively,” says the LORD.

11 And the LORD said to me, “The rebellious Israel has justified herself more than the rebellious Judah.

12 “Go and cry these Words toward the North, and say, ‘You disobedient Israel, return,’ says the LORD, ‘and I will not let My wrath fall upon you.’ For I am merciful,” says the LORD, “and I will not always keep My anger.

13 “But know your iniquity. For you have rebelled against the LORD your God, and have scattered your ways to the strange gods under every green tree. But you would not obey My Voice,” says the LORD.

14 “O you disobedient children, turn again,” says the LORD, “for I am your LORD. And I will take you, one from a city, and two from a tribe, and will bring you to Zion.

15 “And I will give you pastors according to My Heart, who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

16 “Moreover, when you are increased and multiplied in the land, in those days,” says the LORD, “they shall say no more: ‘The Ark of the Covenant of the LORD.’ For it shall not come to mind anymore, nor shall they remember it, nor shall they visit it. For that shall not be done anymore.

17 “At that time, they shall call Jerusalem, ‘The Throne of the LORD.’ And all the nations shall be gathered to it, to the Name of the LORD in Jerusalem. And henceforth they shall not follow the hardness of their wicked heart anymore.

18 “In those days, the House of Judah shall walk with the House of Israel. And they shall come together out of the land of the North, into the land that I have given for an inheritance to your fathers.

19 “But I said, ‘How did I take you for children, and give you a pleasant land, the glorious heritage of the armies of the heathen?’ And I said, ‘You shall call Me, “My Father”, and shall not turn from Me.’

20 “But as a woman rebels against her husband, so have you rebelled against Me, O House of Israel,” says the LORD.

21 A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel. For they have perverted their way, forgotten the LORD their God.

22 “O you disobedient children! Return and I will heal your rebellions.” “Behold, we come to You! For You are the LORD our God.

23 “Truly the hope of the hills is but vain, and the multitude of mountains. But in the LORD our God is the health of Israel.

24 “For confusion has devoured our father’s labor from our youth, their sheep and their bullocks, their sons and their daughters.

25 “We lie down in our confusion, and our shame covers us. For we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers from our youth, even to this day. And we have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.”

“O Israel, if you return, return to Me,” says the LORD, “and if you put away your abominations out of My sight, then you shall not waver.

“And you shall swear, ‘The LORD lives in truth, in judgment and in righteousness. And the nations shall be blessed in Him and shall glory in Him.’”

For thus says the LORD to the men of Judah, and to Jerusalem:

“Break up your fallow ground, and do not sow among the thorns. Be circumcised to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your hearts, you men of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem, lest My wrath come forth like fire, and burn, so that no one can quench it, because of the wickedness of your inventions.

“Declare in Judah, and show forth in Jerusalem, and say, ‘Blow the trumpet in the land!’ Cry and gather together, and say, ‘Assemble yourselves, and let us go into strong cities!’

“Set up the standard in Zion. Prepare to flee. Do not stay. For I will bring a plague from the North, and a great destruction.”

The lion has come up from his den, and the destroyer of the Gentiles has departed, gone forth from his place to lay your land waste. Your cities shall be destroyed, without an inhabitant.

Therefore, gird yourself with sackcloth. Lament and howl. For the fierce wrath of the LORD has not turned back from us.

“And on that day,” says the LORD, “the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes and the priests shall be astonished, and the Prophets shall wonder.”

10 Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Surely You have deceived this people, and Jerusalem, saying, ‘You shall have peace,’ and the sword pierces to the heart.”

11 At that time, it shall be said to this people, and to Jerusalem, “A dry wind in the high places of the wilderness comes toward the daughter of My people, neither to fan nor to cleanse.

12 “A mighty wind shall come to Me from those places. And now I will also give sentence upon them.”

13 “Behold, he shall come up as the clouds, and his chariots as a tempest. His horses are lighter than eagles. Woe to us, for we are destroyed!”

14 O, Jerusalem! Wash your heart from wickedness, so that you may be saved. How long shall your wicked thoughts remain within you?

15 For a voice declares from Dan and publishes affliction from Mount Ephraim.

16 “Make mention of the heathen. Publish in Jerusalem. Behold, the scouts come from a far country and cry out against the cities of Judah.

17 “They have surrounded her as the watchmen of the field, because she has provoked Me to wrath,” says the LORD.

18 “Your ways and your inventions have procured these things for yourself. Such is your wickedness. Therefore, it shall be bitter. Therefore, it shall pierce to your heart.”

Colossians 1:1-17

Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God, and Timothy, our brother,

To those who are at Colosse, saints and faithful brothers in Christ: Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

We give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, always praying for you,

having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love toward all saints,

because of the hope which is laid up for you in Heaven; of which you have heard before by the Word of Truth, which is the Gospel.

It has come to you even as it has to all the world and is fruitful, as it was also among you from the day that you heard and truly knew the grace of God;

as you also learned from Epaphras (our dear fellow servant), who is for you a faithful minister of Christ.

He has also declared to us your love in the Spirit.

For this reason, we also (since the day we heard of it) do not cease to pray for you and to desire that you might be fulfilled with knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

10 so that you might walk worthily of the Lord and please Him in all things, being fruitful in all good works and increasing in the knowledge of God;

11 strengthened with all might through His glorious power, leading to all patience and endurance with joy;

12 giving thanks to the Father Who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light;

13 Who has delivered us from the power of darkness and has transferred us into the Kingdom of His dear Son

14 (in Whom we have redemption through His blood; that is, the forgiveness of sins).

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creation.

16 For by Him were all things created which are in Heaven and which are on Earth—things visible and invisible —whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

17 And He is before all things. And in Him all things consist.

Psalm 76

76 God is known in Judah. His Name is great in Israel.

For in Salem is His Tabernacle; and His dwelling is in Zion.

There He broke the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.

You are brighter and more excellent than the mountains of prey.

The stout-hearted are spoiled. They have slept their sleep, and all the men of strength have not found their hands.

At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast dead asleep.

You. You are to be feared. And who shall stand in Your sight when You are angry!

You caused judgment to be heard from Heaven. The Earth feared, and was still,

when You, O God, rose to judgment to help all the meek of the Earth. Selah.

10 Surely, the rage of man shall turn to Your praise; the remnant of the rage You shall restrain.

11 Vow and perform to the LORD your God, all you who surround Him; let them bring presents to Him Who ought to be feared.

12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes; he is feared by the kings of the Earth. For the excellent musician, Jeduthun: A Psalm committed to Asaph

Proverbs 24:21-22

21 My son, fear the LORD, and the King. Do not associate with those given to change.

22 For their destruction shall rise suddenly. And who knows the ruin of them both?
