Version
Numbers 2-3

And the LORD spoke to Moses, and to Aaron, saying,

“Every man of the children of Israel shall camp by his standard, under the banner of their father’s House. Far off, around the Tabernacle of the Congregation, they shall pitch.

“On the east side, toward the rising of the Sun, shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch (according to their armies) and Nahshon, the son of Amminadab, captain of the sons of Judah,

“and his army, shall be numbered at seventy-four thousand six hundred.

“Next to him shall they of the tribe of Issachar pitch. And Nethanel, the son of Zuar, shall be the captain of the sons of Issachar.”

“And his army shall be numbered at fifty-four thousand four hundred.

“The tribe of Zebulun, and Eliab, the son of Helon, captain over the sons of Zebulun,

“and his army, shall be numbered at fifty-seven thousand four hundred.

“The whole number of the army of Judah—one hundred eighty-six thousand four hundred, according to their armies—they shall first set forth.

10 “On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben, according to their armies. And the captain over the sons of Reuben shall be Elizur, the son of Shedeur.”

11 “And his army shall be numbered at forty-six thousand five hundred.

12 “And near him shall the tribe of Simeon pitch. And the captain over the sons of Simeon shall be Shelumiel, the son of Zurishaddai.”

13 “And his army shall be numbered at fifty-nine thousand three hundred.

14 “And the tribe of Gad. And the captain over the sons of Gad shall be Eliasaph, the son of Deuel.”

15 “And his army shall be numbered at forty-five thousand, six hundred fifty.

16 “All the number of the camp of Reuben shall be one-hundred-fifty thousand four hundred fifty, according to their armies. And they shall set forth in the second place.

17 “Then, the Tabernacle of the Congregation shall go with the camp of the Levites. In the midst of the camp, as they have pitched, so shall they go forward, every man in his order, according to their banners.

18 “The banner of the camp of Ephraim shall be toward the west, according to their armies. The captain over the sons of Ephraim shall be Elishama, the son of Ammihud.”

19 “And his army shall be numbered at forty thousand five hundred.

20 “And next to him shall be the tribe of Manasseh. And the captain over the sons of Manasseh shall be Gamaliel, the son of Pedahzur.

21 “And his army shall be numbered at thirty-two thousand two hundred.

22 “And the tribe of Benjamin (and the captain over the sons of Benjamin: Abidan, the son of Gideoni,

23 “and his army), their number is thirty-five thousand four hundred.

24 “All the camp of Ephraim is numbered at one hundred eight thousand one hundred, according to their armies. And they shall go in the third place.

25 “The banner of the camp of Dan shall be toward the north, according to their armies. And the captain over the children of Dan shall be Ahiezer, the son of Ammishaddai.

26 “And his army shall be numbered at sixty-two thousand seven hundred.

27 “And next to him shall the tribe of Asher pitch, and the captain over the sons of Asher, Pagiel, the son of Ocran.

28 “And his army shall be numbered at forty-one thousand five hundred.

29 “Then, the tribe of Naphtali—and the captain over the children of Naphtali: Ahira, the son of Enan,

30 “and his army—which shall number fifty-three thousand four hundred.

31 “All the camp of Dan— one hundred-fifty-seven thousand six hundred—shall go last, with their banners.”

32 These are the sums of the children of Israel, by the Houses of their fathers—all the number of the camp, according to their armies—six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty.

33 But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

34 And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD had commanded Moses. So they pitched according to their banners. And so everyone journeyed with his families, according to the Houses of their fathers.

Also, these were the generations of Aaron and Moses, in the days that the LORD spoke with Moses on Mount Sinai.

So these are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab (the firstborn) and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed Priests, whom he consecrated to minister in the Priest’s office.

And Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD, when they offered strange fire before the LORD in the wilderness of Sinai and had no children. But Eleazar and Ithamar served in the Priest’s office in the sight of Aaron, their father.

Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

“Bring the tribe of Levi and set them before Aaron the Priest, so that they may serve him

“and tend to him, even tend to the whole Congregation, before the Tabernacle of the Congregation, to do the service of the Tabernacle.

“They shall also maintain all the instruments of the Tabernacle of the Congregation and tend to the needs of the children of Israel, to do the service of the Tabernacle.

“And you shall give the Levites to Aaron, and to his sons. They are given to him freely from among the children of Israel.

10 “And you shall appoint Aaron and his sons to execute their Priest’s office. And the stranger who comes near shall be killed.”

11 Also, the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

12 “Behold, I have even taken the Levites from among the children of Israel, for all the firstborn that open the womb among the children of Israel. And the Levites shall be Mine,

13 “because all the firstborn are Mine. For the same day that I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified to Me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast. Mine they shall be. I am the LORD.”

14 Moreover, the LORD spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying,

15 “Number the children of Levi, after the Houses of their fathers, in their families. Every male from a month old and above shall you number.”

16 Then Moses numbered them according to the Word of the LORD, as he was Commanded.

17 And these were the sons of Levi, by their names: Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari.

18 Also these were the names of the sons of Gershon, by their families: Libni and Shimei.

19 Also the sons of Kohath, by their families: Amram and Izehar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

20 And the sons of Merari, by their families: Mahli and Mushi. These were the families of Levi, according to the Houses of their fathers.

21 From Gershon came the family of the Libnites and the family of the Shimites. These were the families of the Gershonites,

22 the sum of which (after the number of all the males from a month old and above) was counted seven thousand five hundred.

23 The families of the Gershonites were to pitch behind the Tabernacle, westward.

24 The captain and ancient of the House of the Gershonites was Eliasaph, the son of Lael.

25 And the sons of Gershon in the Tabernacle of the Congregation were to be in charge of the Tabernacle and the Pavilion, its covering, and the Veil of the door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation,

26 and the hanging of the court and the Veil of the door of the court which is near the Tabernacle, and near the Altar, all around, and the cords of it, for all its services.

27 And from Kohath came the family of the Amramites and the family of the Izharites and the family of the Hebronites and the family of the Uzzielites. These were the families of the Kohathites.

28 The number of all the males from a month old and above was eight thousand six hundred, keeping charge of the Sanctuary.

29 The families of the sons of Kohath were to pitch on the south side of the Tabernacle.

30 The captain and ancient of the House and families of the Kohathites was Elizaphan, the son of Uzziel.

31 And their charge was to be the Ark, the Table, the Candlestick, the Altars, the instruments of the Sanctuary with which they minister, the Veil, and all that serves them.

32 And Eleazar, the son of Aaron the Priest, was to be chief captain of the Levites, having oversight of those in charge of the Sanctuary.

33 From Merari came the family of the Mahlites, and the family of the Mushites. These were the families of Merari.

34 And the sum of them, according to the number of all the males from a month old and above, was six thousand two hundred.

35 The captain and the ancient of the House of the families of Merari was Zuriel, the son of Abihail. They were to pitch on the Northside of the Tabernacle.

36 And the sons of Merari were in charge and custody of the boards of the Tabernacle, its bars, its pillars, its sockets, and all its instruments, and all that serves them,

37 with the pillars of the court all around, with their sockets, and their pins and their cords.

38 Also, on the forefront of the Tabernacle, toward the east, before the Tabernacle of the Congregation, eastward, Moses and Aaron and his sons were to pitch, having charge of the Sanctuary and charge of the children of Israel. But the stranger who came near would be killed.

39 The whole sum of the Levites, which Moses and Aaron numbered at the Commandment of the LORD, throughout their families, all the males from a month old and above, was twenty-two thousand.

40 And the LORD said to Moses, “Number all the firstborn who are males among the children of Israel from a month old and above and take the number of their names.

41 “And you shall take the Levites for Me instead of all the firstborn of the children of Israel—I am the LORD—and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstborn of the cattle of the children of Israel.”

42 And Moses numbered all the firstborn of the children of Israel, as the LORD Commanded him.

43 All the firstborn males by name (from a month old and above), according to their number, were twenty-two thousand two hundred seventy three.

44 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

45 “Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn of the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle. And the Levites shall be Mine. I am the LORD.

46 “And for the redeeming of the two hundred seventy-three of the firstborn of the children of Israel (which is more than the Levites),

47 “you shall also take five shekels for every person. You shall take it after the weight of the Sanctuary. The shekel contains twenty gerahs.

48 “And you shall give the money with which the excess number of them is redeemed to Aaron and to his sons.”

49 Thus Moses took the redemption of those who were redeemed in addition to the Levites.

50 He took the money from the firstborn of the children of Israel: one thousand three hundred sixty-five, after the shekel of the Sanctuary.

51 And Moses gave the money from those who were redeemed to Aaron and to his sons, according to the Word of the LORD, as the LORD had Commanded Moses.

Mark 11:27-12:17

27 Then they came to Jerusalem again. And as He walked in the Temple, the chief priests came to Him, and the scribes and the elders,

28 and said to Him, “By what authority do You do these things? And who gave You this authority, that You should do these things?”

29 Then Jesus answered, and said to them, “I will also ask you a certain thing. Answer Me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.

30 “The baptism of John, was it from Heaven, or from man? answer Me.”

31 And they thought amongst themselves, saying, “If we shall say, ‘From Heaven’, He will say, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’

32 “But if we say, ‘From man’, we fear the people.” For all men counted John as a Prophet, indeed.

33 Then they answered, and said to Jesus, “We cannot tell.” And Jesus answered, and said to them, “Nor will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”

12 And He began to speak to them in parables, “A certain man planted a vineyard, and surrounded it with a hedge, and dug a pit for the winepress, and built a tower on it, and leased it to farmers, and went into a strange country.

“And at the right time, he sent a servant to them, so that he might receive word about the fruit of the vineyard.

“But they took him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.

“And again he sent another servant to them. And they cast stones at him, and struck his head, and sent him away shamefully-handled.

“And again he sent another. And him they killed - and many others - beating some and killing some.

“He still had one son, his dear beloved. Lastly, he also sent him to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’

“But the farmers said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him. And the inheritance shall be ours.’

“So they took him and killed him and cast him out of the vineyard.

“What shall then the Lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy these farmers and give the vineyard to others.

10 “Have you not read so much as this Scripture, ‘The stone which the builders refused, has become the cornerstone.

11 “‘This was done by the Lord. And it is marvelous in our eyes’?”

12 Then they planned to take Him. But they feared the people. For they perceived that He spoke that parable against them. Therefore, they left Him alone and went their way.

13 And they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Him, that they might catch Him in His words.

14 And when they came, they said to Him, “Master, we know that You are true, and do not care what anyone says. For You do not consider the person of man but teach the way of God truly. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?

15 “Should we give it, or should we not give it?” But He knew their hypocrisy, and said to them, “Why do you tempt me? Bring me a penny, that I may see it.”

16 So they brought it, and He said to them, “Whose image and superscription is this?” And they said to Him, “Caesar’s.”

17 Then Jesus answered, and said to them, “Give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God, those that are God’s.” And they marveled at Him.

Psalm 47

47 All people, clap your hands! Sing loud to God with a joyful voice!

For the LORD is high and terrible, a great King over all the Earth.

He has subdued the people under us and the nations under our feet.

He has chosen our inheritance for us, the glory of Jacob whom He loved. Selah.

God has gone up with triumph, the LORD with the sound of the trumpet.

Sing praises to God! Sing praises! Sing praises to our King! Sing praises!

For God is the King of all the Earth. Sing praises with understanding.

God reigns over the heathen. God sits upon His Holy Throne.

The princes of the people are gathered to the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the world belong to God. He is greatly exalted! A song or Psalm committed to the sons of Korah.

Proverbs 10:24-25

24 That which the wicked fears shall come upon him. But God will grant the desire of the righteous.

25 As the whirlwind passes, so is the wicked no more. But the righteous is as an everlasting foundation.
