Revised Geneva Translation (RGT)
Version
Numbers 26:52-28:15

52 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

53 “To these the land shall be divided for an inheritance, according to the number of names.

54 “To the many you shall give more inheritance, and to the few you shall give less inheritance. Everyone shall be given his inheritance according to his number.

55 “Notwithstanding, the land shall be divided by lot. They shall inherit according to the names of the tribes of their fathers.

56 “According to the lot shall its possession be divided between many and few.”

57 These also are the numbers of the Levites, after their families: Gershon (of whom came the family of the Gershonites), Kohath (of whom came the family of the Kohathites), Merari (of whom came the family of the Merarites).

58 These are the families of Levi: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Hebronites, the family of the Mahlites, the family of the Mushites, the family of the Korathites. And Kohath begat Amram.

59 And Amram’s wife was called Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt. And she bore to Amram, Aaron and Moses and Miriam their sister.

60 And to Aaron were born Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

61 And Nadab and Abihu died, because they offered strange fire before the LORD.

62 And their numbers were twenty-three thousand, all males from a month old and above (for they were not numbered among the children of Israel because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel).

63 These are the numbers of Moses and Eleazar the Priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plain of Moab, near Jordan, toward Jericho.

64 And among these there was not a man whom Moses and Aaron the Priest had numbered among the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.

65 For the LORD said to them, “They shall die in the wilderness.” So, there was not a man left of them, except Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua, the son of Nun.

27 Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the family of Manasseh, the son of Joseph (and the names of his daughters were these: Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah)

and stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the Priest, and before the Princes, and all the assembly at the door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, saying,

“Our father died in the wilderness. And he was not among the assembly of those who were assembled against the LORD in the company of Korah, but died in his sin and had no sons.

“Why should the name of our father be taken away from among his family because he has no son? Give us a possession among the brothers of our father.”

Then Moses brought their cause before the LORD.

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

“The daughters of Zelophehad speak rightly. You shall give them a possession to inherit among their father’s brothers and shall turn the inheritance of their father to them.

“Also, you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘If a man dies and has no son, then you shall turn his inheritance to his daughter.

‘And if he has no daughter, you shall give his inheritance to his brothers.

10 ‘And if he has no brothers, you shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers.

11 ‘And if his father has no brothers, you shall give his inheritance to his next kinsman in his family. And he shall possess it. And this shall be to the children of Israel a Law of Judgment, as the LORD has commanded Moses.’”

12 Again, the LORD said to Moses, “Go up into the Mount of Abarim, and behold the land which I have given to the children of Israel.

13 “And when you have seen it, you shall be gathered to your people also, as Aaron your brother was gathered.

14 “For you were disobedient to My Word in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the assembly to sanctify Me in the waters before their eyes. That is the water of Meribah in Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin.”

15 Then Moses spoke to the LORD, saying,

16 “Let the LORD, God of the spirits, of all flesh, appoint a man over the Congregation,

17 “who may go out and in before them and lead them out and in, so that the Congregation of the LORD are not as sheep who have no shepherd.”

18 And the LORD said to Moses, “Take with you Joshua, the son of Nun, in whom is the Spirit. And put your hands upon him.

19 “And set him before Eleazar the Priest, and before all the Congregation. And give him a commission in their sight.

20 “And give him some of your glory, so that all the Congregation of the children of Israel may obey.

21 “And he shall stand before Eleazar the Priest, who shall ask counsel for him by the judgment of Urim, before the LORD. At his word they shall go out. And at his word they shall come in, he and all the children of Israel with him, and all the Congregation.”

22 So Moses did as the LORD had commanded him. And he took Joshua and set him before Eleazar the Priest, and before all the Congregation.

23 Then he put his hands upon him and gave him a commission, as the LORD had spoken by the hand of Moses.

28 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

“Command the children of Israel, and say to them, ‘You shall observe to offer to Me My offering in their due season, and My bread for My sacrifices, made by fire, for a sweet savor to Me.’

“Also, you shall say to them, ‘This is the offering made by fire which you shall offer to the LORD: two lambs of a year old, without spot, daily, for a continual Burnt Offering.

‘You shall prepare one lamb in the morning, and the other lamb you shall prepare at evening,

‘and a tenth of an ephah of fine flour for a Meat Offering, mingled with a fourth of a hin of beaten oil.

‘This shall be a daily Burnt Offering, as was made on Mount Sinai for a sweet savor. It is a sacrifice made by fire to the LORD.

‘And its Drink Offering shall be a fourth of a hin for one lamb. Pour the Drink Offering to the LORD in the Holy Place.

‘And the other lamb you shall prepare at evening. You shall prepare this as the Meat Offering of the morning, and as its Drink Offering, for an offering made by fire of sweet savor to the LORD.

‘But on the Sabbath Day, you shall offer two lambs of a year old, without spot, and two tenths of an ephah of fine flour for a Meat Offering, mingled with oil, and its Drink Offering.

10 ‘This is the Burnt Offering of every Sabbath, besides the continual Burnt Offering and Drink Offering.

11 ‘And at the beginning of your months, you shall offer a Burnt Offering to the LORD: two young bullocks and a ram, and seven lambs of a year old, without spot,

12 ‘and three tenths of an ephah of fine flour for a Meat Offering`, mingled with oil for one bullock, and two tenth deals of fine flour for a Meat Offering, mingled with oil for one ram,

13 ‘and a tenth of an ephah of fine flour, mingled with oil for a Meat Offering to one lamb, for a Burnt Offering of sweet savor. It is an offering made by fire to the LORD.

14 ‘And their Drink Offerings shall be half a hin of wine to one bullock, and a third of a hin to a ram, and a fourth of a hin to a lamb. This is the Burnt Offering of every month, throughout the months of the year.

15 ‘And one male goat for a Sin Offering to the LORD shall be prepared, besides the continual Burnt Offering and its Drink Offering.

Luke 3:1-22

Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar - Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being Tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip Tetrarch of Iturea, and of the country of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the Tetrarch of Abilene

(when Annas and Caiaphas were the High Priests) - the Word of God came to John, the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness.

And he came into all the regions around Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins,

as it is written in the Book of the sayings of Isaiah the Prophet, which says, “The voice of him who cries in the wilderness is, ‘Prepare the way of the Lord! Make His paths straight!

‘Every valley shall be filled. And every mountain and hill shall be brought low. And crooked things shall be made straight, and the rough ways smooth.

‘And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’”

Then he said to the people who had come out to be baptized by him, “O generations of vipers! Who has forewarned you to flee from the wrath to come?

“Therefore, bring forth fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say among yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our Father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children of Abraham from these stones!

“Now also is the axe laid to the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree which does not bring forth good fruit shall be cut down and cast into the fire!”

10 Then the people asked him, saying, “What shall we do then?”

11 And he answered, and said to them, “The one having two coats, let him give to the one who has none. And the one who has food, let him do likewise.”

12 Then there came tax collectors to be baptized also, and said to him, “Master, what shall we do?”

13 And he said to them, “Require no more than that which is appointed to you.”

14 The soldiers likewise asked him, saying, “And what shall we do?” And he said to them, “Extort no one, nor accuse anyone falsely. And be content with your wages.”

15 As the people waited expectantly, and everyone wondered in their hearts whether John was the Christ,

16 John answered, and said to them all, “Indeed, I baptize you with water! But One stronger than me comes, Whose sandals I am not worthy to unloose! He will baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire!

17 “His fan is in His hand, and He will make clean his floor, and will gather the wheat into His barn. But the chaff He will burn up with fire that never shall be quenched!”

18 Then, exhorting with many other things, he preached to the people.

19 But when Herod the Tetrarch was rebuked by him (for Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done),

20 he added this above all: that he shut up John in prison.

21 Now it happened that as all the people were baptized, and as Jesus was baptized and prayed, the heaven was opened.

22 And the Holy Ghost came down in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him. And there was a voice from Heaven, saying, “You are My beloved Son. In You I am well pleased.”

Psalm 61

61 Hear my cry, O God! Give ear to my prayer!

From the ends of the Earth I will cry to You. When my heart is oppressed, bring me upon the Rock that is higher than I.

For You have been my hope, a strong tower against the enemy.

I will dwell in Your Tabernacle forever. My trust shall be under the covering of Your wings. Selah.

For You, O God, have heard my desires. You have given a heritage to those who fear Your Name.

You shall give the king a long life. His years shall be as many ages.

He shall dwell before God forever. Prepare mercy and faithfulness, that they may preserve him.

So I will always sing praise to Your Name in performing, daily, my vows. To the excellent musician, Jeduthun: A Psalm of David

Proverbs 11:16-17

16 A gracious woman attains honor. And the strong men attain riches.

17 He who is merciful rewards his own soul. But he who troubles his own flesh, is cruel.
