4 And he made a bronze Altar, twenty cubits long and twenty cubits wide and ten cubits high.
2 And he made a molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, all around, and five cubits high. And a line of thirty cubits went around it.
3 And under it was the fashion of oxen, which encircled it all around, ten per cubit, surrounding the Sea all around. Two rows of oxen were cast after it had melted.
4 It stood upon twelve oxen. Three looked northward and three looked westward and three looked southward and three looked eastward. And the Sea stood above, upon them. And all their hind parts were inward.
5 And its thickness was a hand breadth. And its brim was like the work of the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies. It contained three thousand baths.
6 He also made ten caldrons and put five on the right and five on the left, in which to wash and cleanse the things for the Burnt Offerings. But the Sea was for the priests to wash in.
7 And he made ten gold candlesticks (according to their form) and put them in the Temple, five on the right and five on the left.
8 And he made ten tables and put them in the Temple, five on the right and five on the left. And he made a hundred gold basins.
9 And he made the court of the priests, and the great court and doors for the court, and overlaid its doors with bronze.
10 And he set the Sea on the right side, eastward, toward the south.
11 And Huram made pots and shovels and basins. And Huram finished the work that he would make for King Solomon, for the House of God:
12 two pillars, and the bowls, and the chapiters on the top of the two pillars, and two grates to cover the two bowls of the chapiters which were upon the top of the pillars,
13 and four hundred pomegranates for the two grates, two rows of pomegranates for every grate to cover the two bowls of the chapiters that were upon the pillars.
14 He also made bases and made caldrons upon the bases.
15 And a Sea and twelve bulls were under it,
16 also pots and brooms and flesh hooks. And Huram (the father) made all these vessels of shining bronze for King Solomon, for the House of the LORD.
17 The king cast them in clay in the plain of Jordan, between Succoth and Zeredathah.
18 And Solomon made all these vessels in great abundance; for the weight of bronze could not be measured.
19 And Solomon made all the vessels for the House of God: the golden Altar and also the Tables on which the showbread stood,
20 the candlesticks with their lamps (to burn after the manner, before the Oracle) of pure gold,
21 the flowers and the lamps and the snuffers of gold (which was fine gold),
22 and the hooks and the basins and the spoons and the ash pans of pure gold. Also, the entrance to the House and its doors within, of the Most Holy Place, and the doors of the House (Temple) were made of gold.
5 So, all the work that Solomon made for the House of the LORD was finished. And Solomon brought in the things that David his father had dedicated, with the silver and the gold and all the vessels and put them among the treasures of the House of God.
2 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes—the chief fathers of the children of Israel—to Jerusalem, to bring up the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD from the City of David (which is Zion).
3 And all the men of Israel assembled to the king at the Feast. It was in the seventh month.
4 And all the elders of Israel came. And the Levites took up the Ark.
5 And they carried up the Ark and the Tabernacle of the Congregation and all the holy vessels that were in the Tabernacle. The priests and Levites brought those up.
6 And King Solomon and all the Congregation of Israel who were assembled to him were before the Ark, offering sheep and bullocks which could not be told nor numbered for multitude.
7 So, the priests brought the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD to its place, into the Oracle of the House, into the Most Holy Place, under the wings of the Cherubim.
8 For the Cherubim stretched out their wings over the place of the Ark. And the Cherubim covered the Ark and its poles above.
9 And they extended the poles, so that the ends of the poles might be seen out of the Ark, in front of the Oracle. But they were not seen outside. And they are there to this day.
10 Nothing was in the Ark except the two Tables which Moses gave at Horeb, where the LORD made a Covenant with the children of Israel when they came out of Egypt.
11 And when the priests had come out of the Sanctuary (for all the priests who were present were sanctified and did not wait by divisions),
12 and the Levites (the singers of all sorts) —Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, and of their sons and of their brethren, being clad in fine linen—they stood with cymbals and with viols and harps at the eastern end of the Altar, and with them a hundred twenty priests, blowing with trumpets.
13 And they were as one, blowing trumpets and singing and making one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD, lifting up their voices with trumpets and with cymbals and with instruments of music and praising the LORD, singing, “For He is good, because His mercy endures forever.” Then the House, the House of the LORD, was filled with a cloud,
14 so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud. For the Glory of the LORD had filled the House of God.
6 Then Solomon said, “The LORD has said that He would dwell in the dark cloud.
2 “And I have built You a House to dwell in, a habitation for You to dwell in forever.”
3 And the king turned his face and blessed all the Congregation of Israel (for all the Congregation of Israel stood).
4 And he said, “Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, Who spoke with His Mouth to David, my father, and has fulfilled it with His Hand, saying,
5 ‘Since the day that I brought My people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city of all the tribes of Israel to build a House, so that My Name might be there. Nor did I choose any man to be a ruler over My people Israel.
6 ‘But I have chosen Jerusalem, so that My Name might be there. And I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’
7 “And it was in the heart of David, my father, to build a House to the Name of the LORD God of Israel.
8 “But the LORD said to David, my father, ‘Insofar as it was in your heart to build a House to My Name, you did well to be so minded.
9 ‘Notwithstanding, you shall not build the House. Rather, your son who shall come out of your loins, he shall build a House to My Name.’
10 “And the LORD has performed His Word that He spoke. And I have risen up in the place of David, my father, and am set on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised. And I have built a House to the Name of the LORD God of Israel.
11 “And I have set the Ark there, in which is the Covenant of the LORD that He made with the children of Israel.”
7 Do you not know, brothers, (for I speak to those who know the Law) that the Law has dominion over a man for as long as he lives?
2 For the woman who is in subjection to a man, is bound by the Law to the man, while he lives. But if the man is dead, she is released from the Law of the man.
3 So then, if while the man lives, she takes another man, she shall be called an adulteress. But, if the man is dead, she is free from the Law; so that she is not an adulteress, even though she takes another man.
4 So you, my brothers, are also dead to the Law, by the body of Christ; so that you should belong to Another (that is, to Him Who was raised up from the dead) so that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
5 For when we were in the flesh, the sufferings of sins (which were by the Law) were at work in our limbs, bringing forth fruit unto death.
6 But now, we are delivered from the Law (that being dead in which we were held), so that we should serve in newness of Spirit, and not in the oldness of letter.
7 What shall we then say? Is the Law sin? Absolutely not! No, I did not know sin, except through the Law. For I had not known lust until the Law had said, “You shall not lust”.
8 But sin, taking opportunity through the Commandment, wrought in me all manner of lusts. For without the Law, sin is dead.
9 For I was once alive apart from the Law. But when the Commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
10 And this Commandment, which was life to me, was found to be death.
11 For sin, taking opportunity through the Commandment, deceived me; and thereby killed me.
12 Therefore, the Law is holy. And the Commandment is holy, and just, and good.
13 Was, then, that which is good made death to me? Absolutely not! But sin, so that it might appear sin, wrought death in me by that which is good, so that sin (through the Commandment) might be excessively sinful.
17 Hear what is right, O LORD. Consider my cry. Hear my prayer of unfeigned lips.
2 Let my sentence come forth from Your presence. And let Your eyes behold equity.
3 You have tested and visited my heart in the night. You have tried me and found nothing. For I have purposed that my mouth should not offend.
4 Concerning the works of men, by the words of Your lips I kept myself from the paths of the cruel man.
5 Keep my steps in Your paths, so that my feet do not slide.
6 I have called upon You. Surely You will hear me, O God. Incline Your ear to me and hear my words.
7 Show Your marvelous mercies, You Who are the Savior of those who trust in You from such as resist Your right hand.
8 Keep me as the apple of Your eye. Hide me under the shadow of Your wings
9 from the wicked who oppress me, from my enemies who surround me for my soul.
10 They are enclosed in their own fat. They have spoken proudly with their mouth.
11 They have surrounded us now in our steps. They have set their eyes to bring us down to the ground.
12 Like a lion that is greedy for prey (and as it were a lion’s whelp) lurking in secret places.
13 Arise, LORD! Disappoint him! Cast him down! Deliver my soul from the wicked with Your sword;
14 from men, by Your hand, O LORD; from men of the world who have their portion in this life; whose bellies You fill with Your hidden treasure. Their children have enough and leave the rest of their substance for their children.
15 But I will behold Your face in righteousness. And when I awake, I shall be satisfied with Your image. To him who excels: A Psalm of David, the servant of the LORD. Who spoke to the LORD the words of this song on the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies (and from the hand of Saul) and said,
22 That which is to be desired of a man, is kindness. And a poor man is better than a liar.
23 The fear of the LORD leads to life. And he who is filled with it shall continue; and shall not be visited with evil.
