15 For thus says He Who is high and excellent, He Who inhabits the eternity, Whose Name is the Holy One, “I dwell in the High and Holy Place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to give life to those who are of a contrite heart.
16 “For I will not contend forever. Nor will I always be angry. For the spirit should fail before me. And I have made the breath.
17 “I am angry with him for his wicked covetousness and have stricken him. I hid Myself and was angry. Yet he went away and turned after the way of his own heart.
18 “I have seen his ways and will heal him. I will also lead him and restore comfort to him, and to those who lament him.
19 “I create the fruit of the lips: peace—peace to those who are far off and to those who are near,” says the LORD, “—for I will heal him.
20 “But the wicked are like the raging sea that cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
21 “There is no peace,” says my God, “to the wicked.”
58 “Cry aloud! Do not hold back! Lift up your voice like a trumpet and show My people their transgression, and to the House of Jacob their sins.
2 “Still, they seek Me daily, and would know My ways, even as a nation that did righteously, and had not forsaken the Statutes of their God. They ask of Me the Ordinances of Justice. They will draw near to God, saying,
3 “‘Why do we fast and You do not see it? We punish ourselves and You do not regard it?’ Behold, on the day of your fast you will seek your will and require all your debts.
4 “Behold, you fast for strife and debate and to strike with the fist of wickedness. You shall not fast as you do today, to make your voice to be heard above.
5 “Is it such a fast that I have chosen, that a man should afflict his soul for a day, and to bow down his head, as a bull rush, and to lie down in sackcloth and ashes? Would you call this a fast, or an acceptable day to the LORD?
6 “Is not this the fast that I have chosen: to loosen the bands of wickedness, to take off the heavy burdens and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?
7 “Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and that you bring the poor, who wander, into your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him and do not hide yourself from your own flesh?
8 “Then shall your light break forth as the morning and your health shall grow speedily. Your righteousness shall go before you. The Glory of the LORD shall embrace you.
9 “Then shall you call, and the LORD shall answer. You shall cry, and He shall say, ‘Here I am.’ If you take away the yoke from the midst of you, the putting forth of the finger and wicked speaking,
10 “if you pour out your soul to the hungry and refresh the troubled soul, then shall your light spring out in the darkness. And your darkness shall be as the noon day.
11 “And the LORD shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make your bones fat. And you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
12 “And those who shall build the old waste places shall be from you. You shall raise up the foundations for many generations. And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of the Paths to dwell in.
13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your will on My Holy Day, and call the Sabbath a delight to consecrate it, glorious to the LORD, and shall honor Him, not doing your own ways or seeking your own will or speaking a vain word,
14 “then shall you delight in the LORD. And I will cause you to mount upon the high places of the Earth, and feed yourselves with the heritage of Jacob, your father. For the Mouth of the LORD has spoken it.”
59 Behold, the LORD’s Hand is not shortened, that it cannot save. Nor is His Ear heavy, that it cannot hear.
2 But your iniquities have put separation between you and your God. And your sins have hidden His Face from you, so that He will not hear.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity. Your lips have spoken lies. Your tongue has murmured iniquity.
4 No man calls for justice. No man contends for truth. They trust in vanity and speak vain things. They conceive mischief and bring forth iniquity.
5 They hatch viper’s eggs and weave the spider’s web. He who eats of their eggs, dies. And that which is stepped on breaks out into a serpent.
6 Their webs shall be no garment. Nor shall they cover themselves with their labors. Their works are works of iniquity. And the work of cruelty is in their hands.
7 Their feet turn to evil, and they hurry to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are wicked thoughts. Desolation and destruction are in their paths.
8 The way of peace they do not know. And there is no justice in their ways. They have made themselves crooked paths. Whoever goes in there shall not know peace.
9 Therefore judgment is far from us. Nor does justice come near to us. We wait for light, but lo, it is darkness, for brightness, but we walk in darkness.
10 We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as one without eyes. We stumble at the noon day as in the twilight, in solitary places, as dead men.
11 We roar all like bears and mourn like doves. We look for judgment, but there is none, for health, but it is far from us.
12 For our trespasses are many before You. And our sins testify against us. For our trespasses are with us. And we know our iniquities
13 in trespassing and lying against the LORD. And we have departed away from our God, have spoken of cruelty and rebellion, conceiving and uttering false matters out of the heart.
14 Therefore, judgment has turned backward. And justice stands far off. For truth has fallen in the street, and truth cannot enter.
15 Yea, truth fails. And he who refrains from evil makes himself a prey. And when the LORD saw it, it displeased Him that there was no judgment.
16 And when He saw that there was no man, He wondered that none would offer himself. Therefore, His Arm saved it, and His righteousness itself sustained it.
17 For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation upon His Head. And He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing and was clad with zeal as a cloak.
18 As a recompense, to requite the fury of the adversaries (a recompense to His enemies), He will fully repay the islands.
19 So shall they fear the Name of the LORD from the West, and His Glory from the rising of the Sun. For the enemy shall come like a flood. But the Spirit of the LORD shall chase him away.
20 “And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and to those who turn from iniquity in Jacob,” says the LORD.
21 “And I will make this My Covenant with them,” says the LORD, “My Spirit, Who is upon you, and My Words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, nor out of the mouth of your seed, nor out of the mouth of the seed of your seed,” says the LORD, “from henceforth, even forever.”
1 Paul and Timothy, the servants of Jesus Christ, To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the elders and deacons:
2 Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 I thank my God with every remembrance of you,
4 (always, in all my prayers for all you, praying with joy),
5 because of the fellowship which you have in the Gospel, from the first day until now.
6 And I am persuaded of this same thing: that He who has begun this good work in you will perfect it until the Day of Jesus Christ;
7 just as it is right for me to think this way of you all, because I have you in my heart, since both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the Gospel you all were fellow partakers of grace with me.
8 For God is my witness how I long after you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.
9 And this I pray: that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
10 so that you may test those things which are better; that you may be pure and without offense until the Day of Christ,
11 filled with the fruit of righteousness which is by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
12 Brothers, I desire that you understand that the things which are against me have really caused a furthering of the Gospel.
13 So, as for my bonds in Christ, they are famous throughout all the Praetorium and in all other places;
14 so much so that many of the brothers in the Lord are emboldened by my bonds and dare speak the Word of God more frankly.
15 Indeed, some preach Christ out of envy and strife, but some also out of goodwill.
16 Indeed, the former preaches Christ out of rivalry (and not purely, supposing to add more affliction to my bonds),
17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the Gospel.
18 What then? Christ is still preached in all manner of ways, whether under a pretense or sincerely. And I rejoice in that! Indeed, and I will rejoice!
19 For I know that this shall cause my deliverance (through your prayer and by the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ)
20 as I fervently expect and hope that in nothing shall I be ashamed. But that with all confidence (as always) so now Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death.
21 For, to me, Christ is life and death is gain.
22 But if living in the flesh brings fruit from my labor, what shall I choose? I do not know!
23 For I am caught between both desiring to be released and to be with Christ (which is best of all).
24 Nevertheless, to abide in the flesh is more necessary for your sake.
25 And of this I am sure: that I shall stay and continue with you all for the progress and joy of your faith,
26 so that by my coming to you again your boasting in Jesus Christ may abound through me.
71 In You, O LORD, I trust. Let me never be ashamed.
2 Rescue me and deliver me in Your righteousness. Incline Your ear to me and save me.
3 Be my Strong Rock, whereto I may always resort. You have given Commandment to save me; for You are my Rock, and my Fortress.
4 Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the evil and cruel man.
5 For You are my Hope, O LORD God; my Trust from my youth.
6 I have been upheld by You from the womb. You are He Who took me out of my mother’s core. My praise shall be of You always.
7 I have become, as it were, a monster to many; but You are my sure Trust.
8 Let my mouth be filled with Your praise, with Your Glory, every day.
9 Do not cast me off in the time of old age. Do not forsake me when my strength fails.
10 For my enemies speak of me; and those who lay in wait for my soul take their counsel together,
11 saying, “God has forsaken him. Pursue and take him, for there is no one to deliver him.”
12 Do not go far from me, O God. My God, hasten to help me!
13 Let those who are against my soul be confounded and consumed. Let those who seek my hurt be covered with reproach and confusion.
14 But I will wait continually and will praise You more and more.
15 My mouth shall daily rehearse Your righteousness and Your salvation; for I do not know the number.
16 I will go forward in the strength of the LORD God. I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only.
17 O God, You have taught me from my youth even until now. I will tell of Your wondrous works;
18 Indeed, even to my old age and gray head, O God, do not forsake me until I have declared Your arm to this generation, and Your power to all those who shall come.
19 And Your righteousness, O God, I will exalt on High; for You have done great things. O God, who is like You!
20 You have shown me great troubles and adversities, but You will return and revive me; and will come again and take me up from the depth of the Earth.
21 You will increase my honor; and return and comfort me.
22 Therefore, I will praise You for Your faithfulness, O God, upon instrument and viol. To You I will sing upon the harp, O Holy One of Israel.
23 My lips will rejoice when I sing to You; and my soul, which You have delivered.
24 Also, my tongue shall daily talk of Your righteousness; for those who seek my hurt are confounded and brought to shame. A Psalm of Solomon
9 The wicked thought of a fool is sin. And the scoffer is an abomination to men.
10 If you sink down on the day of adversity, your strength is small.
