Version
Hosea 6-9

Come and let us return to the LORD. For He has torn and He will heal us. He has wounded us and He will bind us up.

After two days, He will revive us. On the third day, He will raise us up and we shall live in His sight.

Then we shall have knowledge and endeavor to know the LORD. His going forth is prepared as the morning. And He shall come to us as the rain, as the latter rain, to the earth.

“O Ephraim, what shall I do with you? O Judah, how shall I entreat you? For your goodness is as a morning cloud. And as the morning dew it goes away.

“Therefore, I have cut them down by the Prophets. I have killed them by the Words of My Mouth. And the judgments of you were as the light that goes forth.

“For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than Burnt Offerings.

“But they, like men, have transgressed the Covenant. There they have trespassed against Me.

“Gilead is a city of those who work iniquity, polluted with blood.

“And as the thieves wait for a man, the company of priests murder on the way by consent. For they work mischief.

10 “I have seen villainy in the House of Israel. The whoredom of Ephraim is there. Israel is defiled.

11 “Indeed, Judah, a harvest is set for you when I shall return My people from captivity.”

“When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria. For they have dealt falsely. And the thief comes in and the robber plunders outside.

“And they do not consider in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness. Now their own inventions have surrounded them. They are in My sight.

“They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.

“They are all adulterers, like bakers who cease to heat an oven after kneading the dough, until it is leavened.

“In the day of the king, the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine. He stretches out his hand to scorners.

“For they have made ready their heart like an oven while they lie in wait. Their baker sleeps all night. In the morning it burns as a flame of fire.

“They are all as hot as an oven and have devoured their judges. All their kings have fallen. There is no one among them who calls to Me.

“Ephraim has mixed himself among the people. Ephraim is as an unturned cake on the hearth.

“Strangers have devoured his strength and he does not know it. Yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he does not know.

10 “And the pride of Israel testifies to his face. And they do not return to the LORD their God or seek Him for all this.

11 “Also, Ephraim is like a dove, deceived, without heart. They call to Egypt. They go to Assyria.

12 “When they shall go, I will spread My net upon them and draw them down as the birds of the heaven. I will chastise them, as their Congregation has heard.

13 “Woe to them! For they have fled away from Me. Destruction to them, because they have transgressed against Me. Though I have redeemed them, they have still spoken lies against Me.

14 “And they have not cried to Me with their hearts when they howled upon their beds. They assembled themselves for grain and wine. They rebel against Me.

15 “Though I have bound and strengthened their arm, they still imagine mischief against Me.

16 “They return, but not to the Most High. They are like a deceitful bow. Their princes shall fall by the sword because of the rage of their tongues. This shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.”

“Set the trumpet to your mouth! He shall come as an eagle against the House of the LORD, because they have transgressed My Covenant and trespassed against My Law.

“Israel shall cry to Me, ‘My God, we know You!’

“Israel has cast off the thing that is good. The enemy shall pursue him.

“They have set up a king, but not by Me. They have made princes, and I did not know it. They have made themselves idols from their silver and their gold. Therefore, they shall be destroyed.

“Your calf, O Samaria, has cast you off. My anger is kindled against them. How long will they be without innocence!

“For it came from Israel. The workman made it. Therefore, it is not God. But the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.

“For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. It has no stalk. The bud shall bring forth no meal. If it is brought forth, the strangers shall devour it.

“Israel is devoured! They shall now be among the Gentiles, as a vessel in which there is no pleasure.

“For they have gone up to Assyria, a wild donkey, alone by himself. Ephraim has hired lovers.

10 “Yet, although they have hired among the nations, I will now gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king and the princes.

11 “Because Ephraim has made many altars for sin, his altars shall be for sin.

12 “I have written the great things of My Law for them, but they were counted as a strange thing.

13 “They sacrifice flesh for the Sacrifices of My Offerings and eat it. The LORD does not accept them. Now He will remember their iniquity and visit their sins. They shall return to Egypt.

14 “For Israel has forgotten his maker and builds temples. And Judah has increased strong cities. But I will send a fire upon his cities. And it shall devour its palaces.”

Do not rejoice for joy, O Israel, as other people. For you have gone a whoring from your God. You have loved a reward upon every grain floor.

The floor and the winepress shall not feed them. And the new wine shall fail in her.

They will not dwell in the LORD’s land. But Ephraim will return to Egypt. And they will eat unclean things in Assyria.

They shall not offer wine to the LORD. Nor shall their sacrifices be pleasant to Him. But they shall be as the bread of mourners. All who eat of it shall be polluted. For their bread for their souls shall not come into the House of the LORD.

What will you do, then, on the solemn day, and on the day of the Feast of the LORD?

For lo, they have gone from destruction. Egypt shall gather them up and Memphis shall bury them. Nettles shall possess the pleasant places of their silver. Thorns shall be in their tabernacles.

The days of visitation have come. The days of recompense have come. Israel shall know it. The Prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, because of the multitude of your iniquity. Therefore the hatred is great.

The watchman of Ephraim is with my God. The Prophet is the snare of a bird catcher in all his ways, and hatred is in the House of his God.

They are deeply set. They are corrupt, as in the days of Gibeah. He will remember their iniquity. He will visit their sins.

10 “I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness. I saw your fathers as the firstfruits of a fig tree in her first season. But they went to Baal Peor and separated themselves to that shame. And abominations were according to their lovers.

11 “Ephraim, their glory, shall flee away like a bird, from the birth and from the womb and from the conception.

12 “Though they bring up their children, I will deprive them of being men. Yea, woe to them when I depart from them!

13 “Ephraim, as I saw, is as a tree in Tyre, planted in a cottage. But Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer.”

14 O LORD, give them—what will You give them? Give them a barren womb and dry breasts.

15 “All their wickedness is in Gilgal. For there I hated them for the wickedness of their inventions. I will cast them out of My House. I will love them no longer. All their princes are rebels.

16 “Ephraim is stricken! Their root is dried up! They can bring no fruit! Yea, though they bring forth, I will kill even the dearest of their body.”

17 My God will cast them away because they did not obey Him. And they shall wander among the nations.

3 John

The elder, To the beloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth:

Beloved, I wish chiefly that you prosper and fare well as your soul prospers.

For I rejoiced greatly when the brothers came and testified of the truth that is in you; how you walk in the truth.

I have no greater joy than these: to hear that my sons walk in truth.

Beloved, you faithfully do whatever you do for the brother and for strangers;

who bore witness of your love before the churches. If you bring them on their journey in a manner worthy of God, you shall do well.

Because, they went forth for His Name’s sake and took nothing from the Gentiles.

Therefore, we ought to receive such, so that we might be helpers to the Truth.

I wrote to the church. But Diotrephes (who loves to have the pre-eminence among them) will not receive us.

10 Therefore, if I come, I will remind you of his deeds which he does - prattling against us with malicious words - and not content with this, he not only does not receive the brothers himself, but forbids those who would and thrusts them out of the church.

11 Beloved, do not follow that which is evil, but that which is good. The one who does well is of God. But the one who does evil has not seen God.

12 Demetrius has good report of all, and of the truth itself. Indeed, and we ourselves bear witness. And you know that our witness is true.

13 I have many things to write. But I will not write to you with ink and pen.

14 For I trust I shall shortly see you. And we shall speak mouth to mouth. Peace be with you. The friends salute you. Greet your friends by name.

Psalm 126

126 When the LORD brought back the captives of Zion, we were like those who dream.

Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with joy. Then they said among the heathen, “The LORD has done great things for them.”

The LORD has done great things for us! We rejoice!

O LORD, bring back our captives as the rivers in the south.

Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.

They went weeping and carried precious seed. They shall return with joy and bring their sheaves. A song of degrees, or Psalm, of Solomon

Proverbs 29:12-14

12 If a prince listens to lies, all his servants are wicked.

13 The poor and the oppressor share this: The LORD lights both their eyes.

14 A king who judges the poor in truth, his throne shall be established forever.
