Prophecy About Gog’s Judgment

39 “Now as for (A)you, son of man, prophesy against Gog and say, ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh, “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, [a]chief prince of Meshech and Tubal; and I will turn you around, drive you on, take you up from the remotest parts of the north, and bring you against the mountains of Israel. And I will (B)strike your bow from your left hand and cause your arrows from your right hand to fall. You will (C)fall on the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops and the peoples who are with you; I will give you as (D)food to every [b]kind of predatory bird and beast of the field. You will fall on the [c]open field; for it is I who have spoken,” declares Lord Yahweh. “And I will send (E)fire upon Magog and those who inhabit the (F)coastlands securely; and they will know that I am Yahweh.

“And My (G)holy name I will make known in the midst of My people Israel; and I will not let My holy name be (H)profaned anymore. And the (I)nations will know that I am Yahweh, the (J)Holy One in Israel. Behold, it is coming, and it shall be done,” declares Lord Yahweh. “That is the day of which I have spoken.

“Then those who inhabit the cities of Israel will (K)go out and make (L)fires with the weapons and burn them, both shields and large shields, bows and arrows, war clubs and spears; and for seven years they will make fires of them. 10 They will not carry wood from the field or gather firewood from the forests, for they will make fires with the weapons; and they will take the spoil of those who made them into spoil and seize the (M)plunder of those who plundered them,” declares Lord Yahweh.

11 “And it will be in that day, that I will give Gog a burial ground there in Israel, the valley of those who pass by east of the sea, and it will block off those who would pass by. So they will bury Gog there with all his multitude, and they will call it the valley of [d]Hamon-gog. 12 And for seven months the house of Israel will be burying them in order to (N)cleanse the land. 13 Even all the people of the land will bury them; and it will be [e]unto their (O)name on the day that I (P)glorify Myself,” declares Lord Yahweh. 14 “Now they will set apart men who will continually pass through the land, (Q)burying those who were passing through, even those left on the surface of the ground, in order to cleanse it. At the end of seven months they will make a search. 15 And those who pass through the land will pass through, and when anyone sees a man’s bone, he will [f]set up a marker by it until the buriers have buried it in the valley of [g]Hamon-gog. 16 And even the name of the city will be Hamonah. So they will cleanse the land.”’

17 “Now as for you, son of man, thus says Lord Yahweh, ‘Say to every [h]kind of (R)bird and to every (S)beast of the field, “Gather and come, assemble from every side to My sacrifice which I am going to (T)sacrifice for you, as a great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel, that you may eat flesh and drink blood. 18 You will (U)eat the flesh of mighty men and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, as though they were (V)rams, lambs, goats, and (W)bulls, all of them fatlings of (X)Bashan. 19 So you will eat fat until you are satisfied and drink blood until you are drunk, from My sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you. 20 And you will be satisfied at My table with (Y)horses and charioteers, with mighty men and all the men of war,” declares Lord Yahweh.

21 “And I will put My (Z)glory among the nations; and all the nations will see My judgment which I have executed and My hand which I have placed on them. 22 And the house of Israel will (AA)know that I am Yahweh their God from that day onward. 23 And the nations will know that the house of Israel went into exile for their (AB)iniquity because they acted unfaithfully against Me, and I (AC)hid My face from them; so I gave them into the hand of their adversaries, and all of them fell by the sword. 24 (AD)According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions I dealt with them, and I hid My face from them.”’”

Israel Will Live in Security

25 Therefore thus says Lord Yahweh, “Now I will return the [i](AE)fortunes of Jacob and have compassion on the whole (AF)house of Israel; and I will be (AG)jealous for My holy name. 26 So they will [j](AH)forget their dishonor and all their unfaithfulness which they [k]perpetrated against Me, when they (AI)live securely on their own land with (AJ)no one to make them tremble. 27 When I (AK)return them from the peoples and gather them from the lands of their enemies, then I shall (AL)prove Myself holy [l]through them in the sight of the many nations. 28 Then they will know that I am Yahweh their God because I made them go into exile among the nations, and then collected them again to their own land; and I will leave none of them there any longer. 29 And I will not hide My face from them any longer, for I will have (AM)poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,” declares Lord Yahweh.

Visions of the House of Yahweh

40 In the (AN)twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth of the month, in the fourteenth year after the (AO)city was struck down, on that same day the (AP)hand of Yahweh was upon me, and He brought me there. In the (AQ)visions of God He brought me into the land of Israel and caused me to rest on a very (AR)high mountain, and on it (AS)to the south there was a (AT)structure like a city. So He brought me there; and behold, there was a man whose appearance was like the appearance of (AU)bronze, with a (AV)line of flax and a (AW)measuring [m]rod in his hand; and he was standing in the gateway. And the man spoke to me, “(AX)Son of man, (AY)see with your eyes, hear with your ears, and set your heart on all that I am going to show you; for you have been brought here in order to show it to you. (AZ)Declare to the house of Israel all that you are seeing.”

The East Gate

And behold, there was a (BA)wall on the outside of the house of Yahweh all around, and in the man’s hand was a measuring rod of six cubits, each of which was a [n]cubit and a [o]handbreadth. So he measured the thickness of the [p]wall, one rod; and the height, one rod. Then he went to the gate which faced (BB)east, went up its steps, and measured the threshold of the gate, one rod [q]in width; and the other threshold was one rod [r]in width. The (BC)guardroom was one rod long and one rod wide; and there were five cubits between the guardrooms. And the threshold of the gate by the porch of the gate [s]facing inward was one rod. Then he measured the porch of the gate [t]facing inward, one rod. He measured the porch of the gate, eight cubits; and its side pillars, two cubits. And the porch of the gate was [u]faced inward. 10 The guardrooms of the gate toward the east numbered three on each side; the three of them had the same measurement. The side pillars also had the same measurement on each side. 11 And he measured the width of the entrance of the gate, ten cubits, and the length of the gate, thirteen cubits. 12 There was a [v]barrier wall one cubit wide in front of the guardrooms on each side; and the guardrooms were six cubits square on each side. 13 He measured the gate from the roof of the one guardroom to the roof of the other, a width of twenty-five cubits from one door to the door opposite. 14 He made the side pillars sixty cubits high; the gate extended round about to the side pillar of the (BD)courtyard. 15 From the front of the entrance gate to the front of the inner porch of the gate was fifty cubits. 16 There were [w](BE)shuttered windows looking toward the guardrooms and toward their side pillars within the gate all around, and likewise for the porches. And there were windows all around inside; and on each side pillar were (BF)palm tree ornaments.

The Outer Court Chambers

17 Then he brought me into the (BG)outer court, and behold, there were (BH)chambers and a pavement made for the court all around; thirty chambers [x]faced the pavement. 18 The pavement (that is, the lower pavement) was by the [y]side of the gates, corresponding to the length of the gates. 19 Then he measured the width from the front of the (BI)lower gate to the front of the exterior of the inner court, [z]one (BJ)hundred cubits on the east and on the north.

The North Gate

20 As for the (BK)gate of the outer court which faced the north, he measured its length and its width. 21 [aa]It had three (BL)guardrooms on each side; and its (BM)side pillars and its porches [ab]had the same measurement as the first gate. Its length was [ac](BN)fifty cubits and the width (BO)twenty-five cubits. 22 Its (BP)windows and its porches and its palm tree ornaments had the same measurements as the (BQ)gate which faced toward the east; and [ad]it was reached by seven (BR)steps, and its [ae]porch was in front of them. 23 The inner court had a gate opposite the gate on the north as well as the gate on the east; and he measured one (BS)hundred cubits from gate to gate.

The South Gate

24 Then he led me toward the south, and behold, there was a (BT)gate toward the south; and he measured its (BU)side pillars and its porches according to [af]those same measurements. 25 [ag]The gate and its porches had (BV)windows all around like [ah]those other windows; the length was (BW)fifty cubits and the width twenty-five cubits. 26 There were seven (BX)steps going up to it, and its porches were in front of them; and it had (BY)palm tree ornaments on its side pillars, one on each side. 27 The inner court had a gate toward the (BZ)south; and he measured from gate to gate toward the south, one (CA)hundred cubits.

James 2:18-3

18 (A)But someone will say, “You have faith; and I have works. Show me your (B)faith without the works, and I will (C)show you my faith (D)by my works.” 19 You believe that [a](E)God is one. (F)You do well; (G)the demons also believe, and shudder. 20 But are you willing to recognize, (H)you foolish fellow, that (I)faith without works is useless? 21 (J)Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? 22 You see that (K)faith was working with his works, and [b]as a result of the (L)works, faith was [c]perfected. 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “(M)And Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness,” and he was called (N)the friend of God. 24 You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 And in the same way, was not (O)Rahab the harlot also justified by works (P)when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also (Q)faith without works is dead.

The Tongue Is a Fire

(R)Do not, many of you, become teachers, (S)my brothers, knowing that we will receive a [d]stricter judgment. For we all (T)stumble in many ways. (U)If anyone does not stumble in [e]what he says, he is a (V)perfect man, able to (W)bridle the entire body as well. Now (X)if we put the bits into the horses’ mouths so that they will obey us, we direct their entire body as well. Look at the ships also, though they are so great and are driven by strong winds, they are still directed by a very small rudder wherever the inclination of the pilot wills. So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it (Y)boasts of great things.

(Z)Behold how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire! And (AA)the tongue is a fire, the very world of unrighteousness; the tongue is set among our members as that which (AB)defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our [f]existence, and is set on fire by [g](AC)hell. For every kind of beasts and birds, of reptiles and creatures of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of (AD)deadly poison. With it we bless (AE)our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, (AF)who have been made in the likeness of God. 10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. 11 Does a fountain pour forth from the same opening [h]fresh and bitter water? 12 (AG)Can a fig tree, my brothers, produce olives, or a vine produce figs? Nor can saltwater produce [i]fresh.

Wisdom from Above

13 Who among you is wise and understanding? (AH)Let him show by his (AI)good conduct his works in the gentleness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter (AJ)jealousy and [j]selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against (AK)the truth. 15 This wisdom is not coming down (AL)from above, but is (AM)earthly, [k](AN)natural, (AO)demonic. 16 For where (AP)jealousy and [l]selfish ambition exist, [m]there is disorder and every evil practice. 17 But the wisdom (AQ)from above is first (AR)pure, then (AS)peaceable, (AT)considerate, submissive, (AU)full of mercy and good fruits, (AV)without doubting, without (AW)hypocrisy. 18 And the fruit of righteousness (AX)is sown in peace [n]by those who make peace.

Psalm 118:1-18

Yahweh’s Lovingkindness Endures Forever

118 (A)Give thanks to Yahweh, for (B)He is good;
For His lovingkindness endures forever.
Oh let (C)Israel say,
“His lovingkindness endures forever.”
Oh let the (D)house of Aaron say,
“His lovingkindness endures forever.”
Oh let those (E)who [a]fear Yahweh say,
“His lovingkindness endures forever.”

From my (F)distress I called upon Yah;
Yah answered me and (G)set me in a large place.
Yahweh is (H)for me; I will (I)not fear;
(J)What can man do to me?
Yahweh is for me (K)among those who help me;
Therefore I will (L)look in triumph on those who hate me.
It is (M)better to take refuge in Yahweh
Than to trust in man.
It is (N)better to take refuge in Yahweh
Than to trust in nobles.

10 All nations (O)surrounded me;
In the name of Yahweh I will surely (P)cut them off.
11 They (Q)surrounded me, indeed, they surrounded me;
In the name of Yahweh I will surely cut them off.
12 They surrounded me (R)like bees;
They were extinguished as a (S)fire of thorns;
In the name of Yahweh I will surely cut them off.
13 You (T)pushed me down violently to make me fall,
But Yahweh (U)helped me.
14 (V)Yah is my strength and song,
And He has become (W)my salvation.

15 The sound of (X)joyful shouting and salvation is in the tents of the righteous;
The (Y)right hand of Yahweh does valiantly.
16 The (Z)right hand of Yahweh is exalted;
The right hand of Yahweh does valiantly.
17 I (AA)will not die; indeed I will live,
And (AB)recount the works of Yah.
18 Yah has (AC)disciplined me severely,
But He has (AD)not given me over to death.

Proverbs 28:2

By the transgression of a land (A)many are its princes,
But (B)by a man who understands, who knows, so it endures.
