Gedor

Gedor [Gē'dôr]—a fortress.

  1. The son of Jehiel and brother of Ner and an ancestor of king Saul (1 Chron. 8:31; 9:37).
  2. This name occurs in connection with two Judahite families. Penuel is called the father of Gedor, and Jered is in the same relation. The Targum gives both these names to Moses as coming from Jehudijah, identified as Pharaoh’s daughter (1 Chron. 4:4, 18). Gedor is also the name of a town or village in the tribe of Simeon (1 Chron. 4:39).
