Adventure Bible Family Devotions

Duration: 365 days
Taking Time

Standing beside a dirt track, Craig and his father watched the BMX race. As the bikers hit the hills, they flew into the air, then disappeared behind the mounds in front of them.

Suddenly one of the riders lost control and wiped out. He rolled to a stop and lay there. The other bikers swerved around him. In a moment the pack was gone, leaving the injured rider in the dust.

“Look at that, Dad,” Craig said. “Nobody stopped to see if he was okay!” His father nodded slowly. “Well, they’re all focused on winning the race.” What are you focused on as you race around every day? The most important thing in life is to love God; the second most important thing is to love others. Are you taking time for people? Are you willing to stop and help someone in need? That’s hard to do in these busy times. But if you focus on what’s really important, you’ll always take time for people.

Bible Verse: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. – Matthew 22:37-39

People in Bible Times: In one of Jesus’ parables, a Samaritan took time to help a wounded man. Taking the man to an inn, he paid the innkeeper to care for him. Only then did the Samaritan continue on his trip. (See Luke 10:25-37)
