Jesus Calling Devotional Bible
Genesis 16
Sometimes I think I’m the world champion of fretting. A warrior of worry. If they gave a prize for mastering anxiety, I’d have no competition.
Sad but true.
Between Your deliverance and Your blessings, You have done so much for me, Lord, that I’m embarrassed that I still struggle to trust You. I feel unsettled all the time, about almost everything, but about my future most of all. I constantly wonder: Where am I headed? How will You use me? What should I do next? Should I turn left or right? How will I know the way? The barrage of questions leaves me lying awake at night in a sweat. And my waking hours aren’t much better.
How can I ever—with all my limitations and weaknesses—have a clue about how to navigate this wild journey called Life? It is too much for me.
Please help me, Lord. My worries loom so large that I’m having trouble seeing You right now.

Trust
I am with you and for you. You face nothing alone—nothing! When you feel anxious, know that you are focusing on the visible world and leaving Me out of the picture. The remedy is simple: Fix your eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen. Verbalize your trust in Me, the Living One who sees you always. I will get you safely through this day and all your days. But you can find Me only in the present. Each day is a precious gift from My Father. How ridiculous to grasp for future gifts when today’s is set before you! Receive today’s gift gratefully, unwrapping it tenderly and delving into its depths. As you savor this gift, you find Me.
