The Kingdom of God Is Like Seed That Grows From Within Itself To Maturity

²⁶ And He was saying, “The kingdom of God is like this: as-if a person would throw the seed upon the soil, ²⁷ and would be sleeping and arising night and day, and the seed would be budding and growing-long— how, he does not^[a] know. ²⁸ The soil bears-fruit by-itself ^[b]— first grass, then a head, then a full grain in the head. ²⁹ And whenever the fruit permits^[c], immediately he^[d] sends-forth the sickle because the harvest has come^[e]”.

The Kingdom of God Is Like a Mustard Seed. It Starts Small And Grows Large

³⁰ And He was saying, “How should we liken the kingdom of God, or with what parable may we present it?— ³¹ as a seed of a mustard-plant, which when it is sown upon the soil is being smaller than all^[f] the seeds upon the soil. ³² And when it is sown, it goes-up and becomes larger than all the garden-plants. And it makes large branches so that the birds of the heaven are able to be nesting under the shade of it”.

Jesus Spoke To The Crowd In Parables And Explained Everything To His Disciples

³³ And with many such parables He was speaking the word to them, as they were able to hear it. ³⁴ And He was not speaking to them apart from a parable. But He was explaining^[g] everything privately to His own disciples.

Jesus Calms The Wind And Sea. The Disciples Say, Who Is This Man?

³⁵ And on that day, having become evening, He says to them, “Let us go to the other side”. ³⁶ And having left the crowd, they take Him along as He was^[h], in the boat. And other boats were with Him. ³⁷ And a great storm of wind takes place. And the waves were throwing-over into the boat so that the boat was already being filled. ³⁸ And He was in the stern on the cushion, sleeping. And they wake Him and say to Him, “Teacher, do You not care^[i] that we are perishing?” ³⁹ And having awakened, He rebuked the wind, and said to the sea “Be still, be silenced^[j]”. And the wind stopped. And there was a great calm. ⁴⁰ And He said to them, “Why are you afraid^[k]? Do you not yet have faith?” ⁴¹ And they feared a great fear^[l]. And they were saying to one another, “Who then is this One, that^[m] even^[n] the wind and the sea obey Him?”

Jesus Casts Demons Out of a Man Into a Herd of Pigs. The Locals Beg Him To Leave

5 And they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gerasenes. ² And He having gone out of the boat, immediately a man with^[o] an unclean spirit met Him, out of the tombs— ³ who was having his dwelling-place in the tombs. And no one was able to bind him any-more, not even with a chain, ⁴ because he often had been bound with shackles^[p] and chains and the chains had been torn-apart by him, and the shackles broken. And no one was strong-enough to subdue him. ⁵ And continually, by night and by day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying-out and cutting himself with stones. ⁶ And having seen Jesus from a distance, he ran and prostrated-himself before Him. ⁷ And having cried-out with a loud voice, he says “What^[q] do I have to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most-High God? I make You swear^[r] by God, do not torment me”. ⁸ For He was saying to him, “Come out of the man, unclean spirit”. ⁹ And He was asking him, “What is the name for you?” And he says to Him, “The name for me is Legion^[s], because we are many”. ¹⁰ And he was begging Him greatly that He not send them outside of the country. ¹¹ Now there was a large herd of pigs feeding there at the mountain. ¹² And they begged Him, saying “Send us to the pigs, in order that we may enter into them”. ¹³ And He permitted them. And the unclean spirits, having come out, entered into the pigs. And the herd, about two-thousand, rushed down the steep-bank into the sea. And they were drowning in the sea. ¹⁴ And the ones feeding^[t] them fled and reported it in the city and in the fields. And they came to see what the thing having happened was. ¹⁵ And they come to Jesus, and see the one being demon-possessed sitting, having been clothed and being sound-minded— the one having had the “legion”. And they became afraid. ¹⁶ And the ones having seen it related to them how it happened to the one being demon-possessed, and about the pigs. ¹⁷ And they began to beg Him to depart^[u] from their districts. ¹⁸ And while He was getting into the boat, the one having been demon-possessed was begging Him that he might be with Him. ¹⁹ And He did not permit him, but says to him, “Go to your house, to your people, and report to them all-that the Lord has done for you, and that He had mercy on you”. ²⁰ And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis^[v] all-that Jesus did for him. And they all were marveling.
