Setting Apart the Priests
29 “(A)Now this is [a]what you shall do to them to set them apart as holy to minister as priests to Me: take one bull from the herd and two rams without blemish, 2 and (B)unleavened bread and unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers [b]spread with oil; you shall make them of fine wheat flour. 3 And you shall put them in one basket and bring them near in the basket along with the bull and the two rams. 4 Then (C)you shall bring Aaron and his sons near to the doorway of the tent of meeting and wash them with water. 5 And you shall take the garments, and put on Aaron the (D)tunic and (E)the robe of the ephod and (F)the ephod and (G)the [c]breastpiece, and gird him with the skillfully (H)woven band of the ephod; 6 and you shall set the (I)turban on his head and put (J)the holy crown on the turban. 7 Then you shall take (K)the anointing oil and pour it on his head and anoint him. 8 And you shall bring his sons near and put (L)tunics on them. 9 You shall gird them with (M)sashes, Aaron and his sons, and bind [d]caps on them, and they shall have (N)the priesthood by a perpetual statute. So you shall [e](O)ordain Aaron and his sons.
Slaughtering the Offerings
10 “Then you shall bring the bull near before the tent of meeting, and Aaron and his sons shall (P)lay their hands on the head of the bull. 11 You shall slaughter the bull before Yahweh at the doorway of the tent of meeting. 12 You shall (Q)take some of the blood of the bull and put it on (R)the horns of the altar with your finger; and you shall pour out all the blood at the base of the altar. 13 You shall (S)take all the fat that covers the entrails and the [f]lobe of the liver and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them, and you shall offer them up in smoke on the altar. 14 But (T)the flesh of the bull and its hide and its refuse, you shall burn with fire outside the camp; it is a sin offering.
15 “(U)You shall also take the one ram, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the ram; 16 and you shall slaughter the ram, and you shall take its blood and splash it around on the altar. 17 Then you shall cut the ram into its pieces, and wash its entrails and its legs, and put them [g]with its pieces and [h]its head. 18 You shall offer up in smoke the whole ram on the altar; it is a burnt offering to Yahweh: (V)it is a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to Yahweh.
19 “Then (W)you shall take the second ram, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the ram. 20 You shall slaughter the ram, and take some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron’s right ear and on the lobes of his sons’ right ears and on the thumbs of their right hands and on the big toes of their right feet, and splash the rest of the blood around on the altar. 21 Then you shall take some of the blood that is on the altar and some of the (X)anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron and on his garments and on his sons and on his sons’ garments with him; so he and his garments shall be set apart as holy, as well as his sons and his sons’ garments with him.
22 “You shall also take the fat from the ram and the fat tail and the fat that covers the entrails and the [i]lobe of the liver and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them and the right thigh (for it is a ram of [j]ordination), 23 and one cake of bread and (Y)one cake of bread mixed with oil and one wafer from the basket of unleavened bread which is set before Yahweh; 24 and you shall put [k]all these [l]in the [m]hands of Aaron and [n]in the [o]hands of his sons, and you shall wave them as a wave offering before Yahweh. 25 (Z)You shall take them from their hands and offer them up in smoke on the altar on the burnt offering for a soothing aroma before Yahweh; it is an offering by fire to Yahweh.
26 “Then you shall take (AA)the breast of Aaron’s ram of [p]ordination and wave it as a wave offering before Yahweh; and it shall be your portion. 27 You shall set apart as holy the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the [q]contribution offering which was waved and which was [r]raised up as a contribution from the ram of [s]ordination, from the one which was for Aaron and from the one which was for his sons. 28 It shall be for Aaron and his sons as a perpetual statute from the sons of Israel, for it is a [t]contribution offering; and it shall be a [u]contribution offering from the sons of Israel from the sacrifices of their peace offerings, even their [v]contribution offering to Yahweh.
29 “(AB)The holy garments of Aaron shall be for his sons after him, [w]that in them they may be anointed and ordained. 30 For seven days the one of his sons who is priest in his stead shall put them on when he comes into the tent of meeting to minister in the holy place.
Yahweh Will Meet and Speak to Israel
31 “You shall take the ram of [x]ordination and (AC)boil its flesh in a holy place. 32 Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram and the bread that is in the basket, at the doorway of the tent of meeting. 33 Thus (AD)they shall eat [y]those things by which atonement was made [z]to ordain them, [aa]to set them apart as holy; but a [ab](AE)layman shall not eat them, because they are holy. 34 (AF)If any of the flesh of [ac]ordination or any of the bread remains until morning, then you shall burn the remainder with fire; it shall not be eaten, because it is holy.
35 “Thus you shall do to Aaron and to his sons, according to all that I have commanded you; you shall [ad]ordain them through (AG)seven days. 36 (AH)Each day you shall offer a bull as a sin offering for atonement, and you shall [ae]purify the altar when you make atonement [af]for it, and (AI)you shall anoint it to set it apart as holy. 37 For seven days you shall make atonement [ag]for the altar and set it apart as holy; then (AJ)the altar shall be most holy, and whatever touches the altar shall be holy.
38 “Now (AK)this is what you shall offer on the altar: two one year old lambs each day, continuously. 39 The (AL)one lamb you shall offer in the morning, and the second lamb you shall offer [ah]at twilight; 40 and there shall be [ai]one-tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with one-fourth of a [aj]hin of beaten oil, and one-fourth of a hin of wine for a drink offering with the one lamb. 41 The second lamb you shall offer [ak]at twilight, and you shall offer with it [al]the same grain offering and [am]the same drink offering as in the morning, for a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to Yahweh. 42 It shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the doorway of the tent of meeting before Yahweh, (AM)where I will meet with you, to speak to you there. 43 I will meet there with the sons of Israel, and it shall be set apart as holy by My glory. 44 I will set the tent of meeting and the altar apart as holy; I will also set Aaron and his sons apart as holy to minister as priests to Me. 45 (AN)I will dwell among the sons of Israel and will be their God. 46 They shall know that (AO)I am Yahweh their God who brought them out of the land of Egypt, that I might dwell among them; I am Yahweh their God.
The Altar of Incense
30 “Moreover, you shall make (AP)an altar as a place for burning incense; you shall make it of acacia wood. 2 Its length shall be a [an]cubit, and its width a cubit; it shall be square. And its height shall be two cubits; its horns shall be [ao]of the same piece. 3 You shall overlay it with pure gold, its top and its [ap]sides all around, and its horns; and you shall make a gold molding all around for it. 4 You shall make two gold rings for it under its molding; you shall make them on its two side walls—on [aq]opposite sides—and [ar]they shall be holders for poles with which to carry it. 5 You shall make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. 6 You shall put [as]this altar in front of the veil that is [at]near the ark of the testimony, in front of the [au](AQ)mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with you. 7 Aaron shall burn fragrant incense on it; he shall burn it every morning when he trims the lamps. 8 When Aaron [av]trims the lamps [aw]at twilight, he shall burn incense. There shall be continual incense before Yahweh throughout your generations. 9 You shall not offer any strange incense on [ax]this altar or burnt offering or grain offering; and you shall not pour out a drink offering on it. 10 Aaron shall (AR)make atonement on its horns once a year; he shall make atonement on it with the blood of the sin offering of atonement once a year throughout your generations. It is most holy to Yahweh.”
Judas Looks to Betray Jesus
14 (A)Then one of the twelve, named (B)Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests 15 and said, “What are you willing to give me [a]to (C)deliver Him to you?” And (D)they weighed out [b]thirty pieces of silver to him. 16 And from then on he began looking for a good opportunity to [c]betray [d]Jesus.
The Passover Meal
17 (E)Now on the first day of (F)Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?” 18 And He said, “Go into the city to (G)a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “(H)My time is near; I am keeping the Passover at your house with My disciples.”’” 19 And the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.
20 (I)Now when evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the twelve disciples. 21 And as they were eating, He said, “(J)Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me.” 22 And being deeply grieved, they [e]each one began to say to Him, “Surely not I, Lord?” 23 And He answered and said, “(K)He who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl is the one who will betray Me. 24 The Son of Man is going, (L)just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! (M)It would have been good [f]for that man if he had not been born.” 25 And (N)Judas, who was betraying Him, answered and said, “Surely not I, (O)Rabbi?” Jesus *said to him, “(P)You yourself said it.”
The Lord’s Supper
26 (Q)Now while they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and [g](R)after a blessing, He broke it. And giving it to the disciples, He said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” 27 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; 28 for (S)this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for (T)many for forgiveness of sins. 29 But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
30 (U)And after singing a hymn, they went out to (V)the Mount of Olives.
31 Then Jesus *said to them, “You will all [h](W)fall away because of Me this night, for it is written, ‘(X)I will strike down the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be (Y)scattered.’ 32 But after I have been raised, (Z)I will go ahead of you to Galilee.” 33 But Peter answered and said to Him, “Even though all may [i]fall away because of You, I will never fall away.” 34 Jesus said to him, “(AA)Truly I say to you that (AB)this very night, before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” 35 Peter *said to Him, “(AC)Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You.” All the disciples said the same thing too.
Jesus Prays in Gethsemane
36 (AD)Then Jesus *came with them to a place called (AE)Gethsemane, and *said to His disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 And He took with Him (AF)Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be grieved and distressed. 38 Then He *said to them, “(AG)My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and (AH)keep watch with Me.”
39 And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let (AI)this cup pass from Me; (AJ)yet not as I will, but as You will.” 40 And He *came to the disciples and *found them sleeping, and *said to Peter, “So, you men could not (AK)keep watch with Me for one hour? 41 (AL)Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; (AM)the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this (AN)cannot pass away unless I drink it, (AO)Your will be done.” 43 And again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44 And He left them again, and went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more. 45 Then He *came to the disciples and *said to them, “[j]Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, (AP)the hour is at hand and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Get up, let us go; behold, the one who betrays Me is at hand!”
19 How great is Your (A)goodness,
Which You have stored up for those who fear You,
Which You have worked for those who (B)take refuge in You,
(C)Before the sons of men!
20 You hide them in the (D)secret place of Your presence from the (E)conspiracies of man;
You keep them secretly in a [a]shelter from the (F)strife of tongues.
21 (G)Blessed be Yahweh,
For He has made (H)marvelous His lovingkindness to me in a besieged (I)city.
22 As for me, (J)I said in my alarm,
“I am (K)cut off from before Your eyes”;
Nevertheless, You (L)heard the voice of my supplications
When I cried to You for help.
14 (A)Counsel is mine and (B)sound wisdom;
I am understanding, (C)might is mine.
15 By me (D)kings reign,
And rulers mark out righteousness.
16 By me princes rule, and nobles,
All who judge rightly.
17 I (E)love those who love me;
And (F)those who earnestly seek me will find me.
18 (G)Riches and glory are with me,
Enduring (H)wealth and righteousness.
19 My fruit is (I)better than fine gold, even pure gold,
And my produce better than (J)choice silver.
20 I walk in the path of righteousness,
In the midst of the pathways of justice,
21 To give those who love me an inheritance of wealth,
That I may (K)fill their treasuries.
22 “Yahweh possessed me (L)at the beginning of His way,
Before His deeds [a]of old.
23 From everlasting I was [b](M)installed,
From the beginning, (N)from the earliest times of the earth.
24 When there were no (O)depths I was [c]brought forth,
When there were no springs heavy with water.
25 (P)Before the mountains were settled,
Before the hills I was [d]brought forth;
26 While He had not yet made the earth and the fields outside,
Nor the first dust of the world.
