Exodus 30:11-31:18

The Census and the Atonement Price

11 Yahweh also spoke to Moses, saying, 12 “When you take (A)a [a]census of the sons of Israel [b]to number them, then each one of them shall give (B)a price of atonement for [c]himself to Yahweh when you [d]number them, so that there will be no plague among them when you [e]number them. 13 This is what everyone who [f]is numbered shall give: half a [g]shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary ((C)the shekel is twenty [h]gerahs), half a shekel as a [i]contribution to Yahweh. 14 Everyone who [j]is numbered, from twenty years old and over, shall give the [k]contribution to Yahweh. 15 The rich shall not pay more and the poor shall not pay less than the half shekel when you give the [l]contribution to Yahweh to make atonement for your souls. 16 And you shall take the atonement money from the sons of Israel and shall give it for the service of the tent of meeting, that it may be a remembrance for the sons of Israel before Yahweh, to make atonement for your souls.”

The Laver for the Priestly Washing

17 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 18 “You shall also make (D)a laver of [m]bronze, with its stand of bronze, for washing; and you shall (E)put it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and you shall put water in it. 19 And Aaron and his sons shall (F)wash their hands and their feet from it; 20 when they come into the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water, so that they will not die; or when they approach the altar to minister, by offering up in smoke a fire sacrifice to Yahweh. 21 So they shall wash their hands and their feet, so that they will not die; and (G)it shall be a perpetual statute for them, for [n]Aaron and his seed throughout their generations.”

The Holy Anointing Oil

22 Moreover, Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 23 “But as for you, take for yourself the finest of spices: of flowing myrrh 500 shekels, and of fragrant cinnamon half as much, 250, and of fragrant cane 250, 24 and of cassia 500, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and of olive oil a [o]hin. 25 And you shall make [p]of these a holy anointing oil, a perfume mixture, the work of a perfumer; it shall be (H)a holy anointing oil. 26 And with it (I)you shall anoint the tent of meeting and the ark of the testimony, 27 and the table and all its utensils, and the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense, 28 and the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the laver and its stand. 29 You shall also set them apart as holy, that they may be most holy; whatever touches them shall be holy. 30 (J)And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and you shall set them apart as holy, that they may minister as priests to Me. 31 And you shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘This shall be a holy anointing oil to Me throughout your generations. 32 It shall not be poured on [q]anyone’s body, nor shall you make any like it in [r]the same specifications; (K)it is holy, and it shall be holy to you. 33 (L)Whoever shall mix any like it or whoever puts any of it on a [s]layman [t](M)shall be cut off from his people.’”

The Incense

34 Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Take for yourself fragrances, stacte and onycha and galbanum, fragrances with pure frankincense; there shall be an equal part of each. 35 With it you shall make incense, a perfume, the work of a perfumer, salted, pure, and holy. 36 You shall beat some of it very fine, and you shall put part of it before the testimony in the tent of meeting (N)where I will meet with you; it shall be most holy to you. 37 The incense which you shall make, (O)you shall not make in [u]the same specifications for yourselves; it shall be holy to you for Yahweh. 38 (P)Whoever shall make any like it, to [v]use as perfume, [w]shall be cut off from his people.”

Bezalel and Oholiab

31 (Q)And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, “See, I have called by name Bezalel, the (R)son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. And I have (S)filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in discernment, in knowledge, and in all kinds of [x]craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs for work in gold, in silver, and in [y]bronze, and in the cutting of stones [z]for settings, and in the carving of wood, in order for him to work in all kinds of [aa]craftsmanship. And behold, I Myself have [ab]appointed with him (T)Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the hearts of all who are [ac]wise at heart I have put [ad]wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded you: (U)the tent of meeting, and (V)the ark of testimony, and (W)the [ae]mercy seat upon it, and all the furniture of the tent, (X)the table also and its [af]utensils, and the (Y)pure gold lampstand with all its [ag]utensils, and (Z)the altar of incense, (AA)the altar of burnt offering also with all its [ah]utensils, and (AB)the laver and its stand, 10 the [ai](AC)woven garments as well, and the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, with which to minister as priests; 11 (AD)the anointing oil also, and the (AE)fragrant incense for the holy place, they shall make them according to all that I have commanded you.”

The Sign of the Sabbath

12 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 13 “But as for you, speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘(AF)You shall surely keep My sabbaths; for this is (AG)a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am Yahweh who makes you holy. 14 Therefore you shall keep the sabbath, for it is holy to you. (AH)Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. 15 (AI)Six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a (AJ)sabbath of complete rest, holy to Yahweh; (AK)whoever does any work on the sabbath day shall surely be put to death. 16 So the sons of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to [aj]celebrate the sabbath throughout their generations as an everlasting covenant.’ 17 (AL)It is a sign between Me and the sons of Israel forever; (AM)for in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.”

18 When He had finished speaking with him upon Mount Sinai, He gave Moses (AN)the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, (AO)written by the finger of God.

Matthew 26:47-68

The Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus

47 (A)And while He was still speaking, behold, (B)Judas, one of the twelve, came up, and with him was a large crowd with swords and clubs, who came from the chief priests and elders of the people. 48 Now he who was betraying Him gave them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the one; seize Him.” 49 And immediately Judas went to Jesus and said, “Greetings, (C)Rabbi!” and kissed Him. 50 And Jesus said to him, (D)Friend, do what you have come for.” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and seized Him.

51 And behold, (E)one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew out his (F)sword and struck the (G)slave of the high priest and [a]cut off his ear. 52 Then Jesus *said to him, “Put your sword back into its place; for (H)all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword. 53 Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve [b](I)legions of (J)angels? 54 Therefore, how will (K)the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must happen this way?”

55 At that time Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as you would against a robber? (L)Every day I used to sit in the temple teaching and you did not seize Me. 56 But all this has taken place in order that (M)the Scriptures of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left Him and fled.

Jesus Before Caiaphas

57 (N)Now those who had seized Jesus led Him away to (O)Caiaphas, the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together. 58 But (P)Peter was following Him at a distance as far as the (Q)courtyard of the high priest, and entered in, and sat down with the [c](R)officers to see the outcome.

59 Now the chief priests and the whole (S)Sanhedrin kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death. 60 And they did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. But later on (T)two came forward, 61 and said, “This man stated, ‘(U)I am able to destroy the [d]sanctuary of God and to rebuild it [e]in three days.’” 62 And the high priest stood up and said to Him, “Do You not answer? What are these men testifying against You?” 63 But (V)Jesus kept silent. (W)And the high priest said to Him, “(X)I put You under oath by (Y)the living God, that You tell us whether You are the [f]Christ, (Z)the Son of God.” 64 Jesus *said to him, (AA)You yourself said it; nevertheless I tell you, [g]hereafter you will see (AB)the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and (AC)coming on the clouds of heaven.”

65 Then the high priest (AD)tore his garments and said, “He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Behold, you have now heard the blasphemy; 66 what do you think?” They answered and said, “(AE)He deserves death!”

67 (AF)Then they (AG)spat in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others [h]slapped Him, 68 and said, “(AH)Prophesy to us, O [i]Christ; who is the one who hit You?”

Psalm 32

You Forgave the Iniquity of My Sin

Of David. A [a]Maskil.

32 (A)How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered!
How blessed is the man whose iniquity Yahweh (B)will not take into account,
And in whose spirit there is (C)no deceit!

When (D)I kept silent about my sin, (E)my [b]bones wasted away
Through my [c](F)groaning all day long.
For day and night (G)Your hand was heavy upon me;
My [d](H)vitality was drained away as with the heat of summer. [e]Selah.
I (I)acknowledged my sin to You,
And my iniquity I (J)did not cover up;
I said, “(K)I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh;”
And You (L)forgave the [f]iniquity of my sin. Selah.
Therefore, let every holy one pray to You [g](M)at a time when You may be found;
Surely (N)in a flood of great waters they will not reach him.
You are (O)my hiding place; You (P)guard me from trouble;
You surround me with [h](Q)songs of deliverance. Selah.

I will (R)give you insight and teach you in the way which you should go;
I will counsel you (S)with My eye upon you.
Do not be (T)as the horse or as the mule which have no understanding,
Whose harness are bit and bridle to control them,
Otherwise they will not come near you.
10 Many are the (U)sorrows of the wicked,
But (V)he who trusts in Yahweh, lovingkindness shall surround him.
11 Be (W)glad in Yahweh and rejoice, you righteous ones;
And shout for joy, all you who are (X)upright in heart.

Proverbs 8:27-32

27 When He (A)established the heavens, I was there,
When (B)He marked out a circle on the face of the deep,
28 When He made firm the skies above,
When the springs of the deep became strong,
29 When (C)He set for the sea its boundary
So that the water would not pass over His [a]command,
When He marked out (D)the foundations of the earth;
30 Then (E)I was beside Him, as a master workman;
And I was a daily delight,
[b]Rejoicing always before Him,
31 [c]Rejoicing in the world, His earth,
(F)My delight is in the sons of men.

32 “So now, O sons, (G)listen to me,
For (H)blessed are they who keep my ways.
