Chambers of the Temple
42 Then he (A)brought me out into the (B)outer court, the way (C)toward the north; and he brought me to the (D)chamber which was opposite the (E)separate area and opposite the (F)building toward the north. 2 Along the length, which was a (G)hundred cubits, was the north door; the width was fifty cubits. 3 Opposite the (H)twenty cubits which belonged to the inner court, and opposite the (I)pavement which belonged to the outer court, was [a](J)gallery corresponding to [b]gallery in three stories. 4 Before the (K)chambers was an inner walk ten cubits wide, a way of one hundred cubits; and their openings were on the north. 5 Now the upper chambers were [c]smaller because the [d](L)galleries took more space away from them than from the lower and middle ones in the building. 6 For they were in (M)three stories and had no pillars like the pillars of the courts; therefore the upper chambers were [e]set back from the ground upward, more than the lower and middle ones. 7 As for the (N)outer wall by the side of the chambers, toward the outer court facing the chambers, its length was fifty cubits. 8 For the length of the chambers which were in the outer court was fifty cubits; and behold, the length of those facing the temple was a (O)hundred cubits. 9 Below these chambers was the (P)entrance on the east side, as one enters them from the outer court.
10 In the [f]thickness of the (Q)wall of the court toward the east, facing the (R)separate area and facing the building, there were (S)chambers. 11 The (T)way in front of them was like the appearance of the chambers which were on the north, according to their length so was their width, and all their exits were both according to their arrangements and openings. 12 Corresponding to the openings of the chambers which were toward the south was an opening at the head of the way, the way in front of the (U)wall toward the east, as one enters them.
13 Then he said to me, “The north chambers and the south chambers, which are opposite the (V)separate area, they are the (W)holy chambers where the priests who are (X)near to the Lord shall eat the (Y)most holy things. There they shall lay the most holy things, the grain offering, the sin offering and the guilt offering; for the place is holy. 14 When the priests enter, then they shall not go out into the outer court from the sanctuary [g]without (Z)laying there their (AA)garments in which they minister, for they are holy. They shall put on other garments; then they shall approach that which is for the people.”
15 Now when he had finished measuring the inner house, he brought me out by the way of the (AB)gate which faced toward the east and measured it all around. 16 He measured on the east side with the measuring reed five hundred reeds by the (AC)measuring reed. 17 He measured on the north side five hundred reeds by the measuring reed. 18 On the south side he measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed. 19 He turned to the west side and measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed. 20 He measured it [h]on the four sides; it had a (AD)wall all around, the (AE)length five hundred and the (AF)width five hundred, to (AG)divide between the holy and the profane.
Vision of the Glory of God Filling the Temple
43 Then he led me to the (AH)gate, the gate facing toward the east; 2 and behold, the (AI)glory of the God of Israel was coming from the way of the (AJ)east. And His (AK)voice was like the sound of many waters; and the earth (AL)shone with His glory. 3 And it was like the appearance of the vision which I saw, like the (AM)vision which I saw when [i]He came to (AN)destroy the city. And the visions were like the vision which I saw by the (AO)river Chebar; and I (AP)fell on my face. 4 And the glory of the Lord came into the house by the way of the gate facing toward the (AQ)east. 5 And the (AR)Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court; and behold, the (AS)glory of the Lord filled the house.
6 Then I heard one speaking to me from the house, while a (AT)man was standing beside me. 7 He said to me, “Son of man, this is the place of My (AU)throne and the place of the soles of My feet, where I will (AV)dwell among the sons of Israel forever. And the house of Israel will not again defile My holy name, neither they nor their kings, by their harlotry and by the [j](AW)corpses of their kings [k]when they die, 8 by setting their threshold by My threshold and their door post beside My door post, with only the wall between Me and them. And they have (AX)defiled My holy name by their abominations which they have committed. So I have consumed them in My anger. 9 Now let them (AY)put away their harlotry and the [l]corpses of their kings far from Me; and I will (AZ)dwell among them forever.
10 “As for you, son of man, [m](BA)describe the [n]temple to the house of Israel, that they may be (BB)ashamed of their iniquities; and let them measure the [o](BC)plan. 11 If they are ashamed of all that they have done, make known to them the [p]design of the house, its structure, its (BD)exits, its entrances, all its designs, all its statutes[q], and all its laws. And write it (BE)in their sight, so that they may observe its whole [r]design and all its statutes and (BF)do them. 12 This is the [s]law of the house: its entire [t]area on the top of the (BG)mountain all around shall be most holy. Behold, this is the [u]law of the house.
The Altar of Sacrifice
13 “And these are the measurements of the (BH)altar by cubits (the (BI)cubit being a cubit and a handbreadth): the [v]base shall be a cubit and the width a cubit, and its border on its edge round about one span; and this shall be the height of the [w]base of the altar. 14 From the base on the ground to the lower (BJ)ledge shall be two cubits and the width one cubit; and from the smaller ledge to the larger ledge shall be four cubits and the width [x]one cubit. 15 The [y]altar hearth shall be four cubits; and from the [z]altar hearth shall extend upwards four (BK)horns. 16 Now the [aa]altar hearth shall be twelve cubits long by twelve wide, (BL)square in its four sides. 17 The ledge shall be fourteen cubits long by fourteen wide in its four sides, the border around it shall be half a cubit and its base shall be a cubit round about; and its (BM)steps shall [ab](BN)face the east.”
The Offerings
18 And He said to me, “(BO)Son of man, thus says the Lord [ac]God, ‘These are the statutes for the altar on the day it is built, to offer (BP)burnt offerings on it and to (BQ)sprinkle blood on it. 19 You shall give to the Levitical priests who are from the offspring of (BR)Zadok, who draw (BS)near to Me to minister to Me,’ declares the Lord God, ‘a (BT)young bull for a (BU)sin offering. 20 You shall take some of its blood and put it on its four (BV)horns and on the four corners of the (BW)ledge and on the border round about; thus you shall (BX)cleanse it and make atonement for it. 21 You shall also take the bull for the sin offering, and it shall be (BY)burned in the appointed place of the house, outside the sanctuary.
22 ‘On the second day you shall offer a (BZ)male goat without blemish for a sin offering, and they shall (CA)cleanse the altar as they cleansed it with the bull. 23 When you have finished cleansing it, you shall present a (CB)young bull without blemish and a (CC)ram without blemish from the flock. 24 You shall present them before the Lord, and the priests shall throw (CD)salt on them, and they shall offer them up as a burnt offering to the Lord. 25 (CE)For seven days you shall prepare daily a goat for a sin offering; also a young bull and a ram from the flock, without blemish, shall be prepared. 26 For seven days they shall make atonement for the altar and purify it; so shall they [ad]consecrate it. 27 When they have completed the days, it shall be that on the (CF)eighth day and onward, the priests shall [ae]offer your burnt offerings on the altar, and your (CG)peace offerings; and I will (CH)accept you,’ declares the Lord God.”
Misuse of Riches
5 (A)Come now, (B)you rich, (C)weep and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you. 2 (D)Your riches have rotted and your garments have become moth-eaten. 3 Your gold and your silver have rusted; and their rust will be a witness against you and will consume your flesh like fire. It is (E)in the last days that you have stored up your treasure! 4 Behold, (F)the pay of the laborers who mowed your fields, and which has been withheld by you, cries out against you; and (G)the outcry of those who did the harvesting has reached the ears of (H)the Lord of [a]Sabaoth. 5 You have (I)lived luxuriously on the earth and led a life of wanton pleasure; you have [b]fattened your hearts in (J)a day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and [c](K)put to death (L)the righteous man; he does not resist you.
Exhortation
7 Therefore be patient, (M)brethren, (N)until the coming of the Lord. (O)The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until [d]it gets (P)the early and late rains. 8 (Q)You too be patient; (R)strengthen your hearts, for (S)the coming of the Lord is (T)near. 9 (U)Do not [e]complain, (V)brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, (W)the Judge is standing [f](X)right at the [g]door. 10 As an example, (Y)brethren, of suffering and patience, take (Z)the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 We count those (AA)blessed who endured. You have heard of (AB)the [h]endurance of Job and have seen (AC)the [i]outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that (AD)the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.
12 But above all, (AE)my brethren, (AF)do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but [j]your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you may not fall under judgment.
13 Is anyone among you (AG)suffering? (AH)Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to (AI)sing praises. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for (AJ)the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, [k](AK)anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the (AL)prayer [l]offered in faith will [m](AM)restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will (AN)raise him up, and if he has committed sins, [n]they will be forgiven him. 16 Therefore, (AO)confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be (AP)healed. (AQ)The effective [o]prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. 17 Elijah was (AR)a man with a nature like ours, and (AS)he prayed [p]earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for (AT)three years and six months. 18 Then he (AU)prayed again, and (AV)the [q]sky [r]poured rain and the earth produced its fruit.
19 My brethren, (AW)if any among you strays from (AX)the truth and one turns him back, 20 let him know that [s]he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will (AY)save his soul from death and will (AZ)cover a multitude of sins.
Meditations and Prayers Relating to the Law of God.
Aleph.
119 How blessed are those whose way is [a](A)blameless,
Who (B)walk in the law of the Lord.
2 How blessed are those who (C)observe His testimonies,
Who (D)seek Him (E)with all their heart.
3 They also (F)do no unrighteousness;
They walk in His ways.
4 You have [b](G)ordained Your precepts,
[c]That we should keep them diligently.
5 Oh that my (H)ways may be established
To (I)keep Your statutes!
6 Then I (J)shall not be ashamed
When I look [d]upon all Your commandments.
7 I shall (K)give thanks to You with uprightness of heart,
When I learn Your righteous judgments.
8 I shall keep Your statutes;
Do not (L)forsake me utterly!
Beth.
9 How can a young man keep his way pure?
By (M)keeping it according to Your word.
10 With (N)all my heart I have sought You;
Do not let me (O)wander from Your commandments.
11 Your word I have (P)treasured in my heart,
That I may not sin against You.
12 Blessed are You, O Lord;
(Q)Teach me Your statutes.
13 With my lips I have (R)told of
All the (S)ordinances of Your mouth.
14 I have (T)rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies,
[e]As much as in all riches.
15 I will (U)meditate on Your precepts
And [f]regard (V)Your ways.
16 I shall [g](W)delight in Your statutes;
I shall (X)not forget Your word.
