Zechariah 8

Jerusalem, the City of Truth

Then the word of Yahweh of hosts came, saying, “Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘[a]I am (A)jealous with great jealousy for Zion, and with great wrath I am jealous for her.’ Thus says Yahweh, ‘I will return to Zion and will (B)dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the City of (C)Truth, and the mountain of Yahweh of hosts will be called the Holy Mountain.’ Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘(D)Old men and old women will again sit in the [b]streets of Jerusalem, each man with his staff in his hand because of [c]age. And the [d]streets of the city will be filled with (E)boys and girls playing in its [e]streets.’ Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘If it is [f](F)too difficult in the sight of the remnant of this people in those days, will it also be [g](G)too difficult in My sight?’ declares Yahweh of hosts. Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘Behold, I am going to save My people from the land where the [h](H)sun rises and from the land where the [i]sun sets; and I will (I)bring them back, and they will (J)dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and they shall be (K)My people, and I will be their God in [j]truth and righteousness.’

“Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘Let your hands be (L)strong, you who are listening in these days to these words from the mouth of the (M)prophets, those who spoke in the day that the foundation of the house of Yahweh of hosts was laid, to the end that the temple might be built. 10 For before those days there was (N)no wage for man or any wage for animal; and for him who went out or came in there was no [k](O)peace because of the adversary, and I (P)set all men one against another. 11 But now I will (Q)not [l]treat the remnant of this people as in the former days,’ declares Yahweh of hosts. 12 ‘For there will be (R)peace for the seed: the vine will yield its fruit, the land will yield its produce, and the heavens will give their (S)dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit (T)all these things. 13 And it will be that just as you were a (U)curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you that you may become a (V)blessing. Do not fear; let your (W)hands be strong.’

14 “For thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘Just as I (X)purposed to bring about evil to you when your fathers provoked Me to wrath,’ says Yahweh of hosts, ‘and I have not (Y)relented, 15 so I have again purposed in these days to (Z)do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. (AA)Do not fear! 16 These are the things which you should do: speak the (AB)truth to one another; (AC)judge with truth and judgment for peace in your [m]gates. 17 Also let none of you (AD)devise evil in your heart against another, and do not love [n](AE)false oaths; for all these are what I (AF)hate,’ declares Yahweh.”

18 Then the word of Yahweh of hosts came to me, saying, 19 “Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘The fast of the (AG)fourth, the fast of the (AH)fifth, the fast of the (AI)seventh, and the fast of the (AJ)tenth months will become (AK)joy, gladness, and [o]merry appointed feasts for the house of Judah; so (AL)love truth and peace.’

20 “Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘It will yet be that (AM)peoples will come, even the inhabitants of many cities. 21 The inhabitants of one will go to another, saying, “Let us go at once to [p](AN)entreat the favor of Yahweh and to seek Yahweh of hosts; [q]I will also go.” 22 So (AO)many peoples and mighty nations will come to seek Yahweh of hosts in Jerusalem and to [r](AP)entreat the favor of Yahweh.’ 23 Thus says Yahweh of hosts, ‘In those days ten men from every tongue of the nations will [s](AQ)take hold of the [t]garment of a Jew, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.”’”

Revelation 16

The Seven Bowls of God’s Wrath

16 Then I heard a loud voice from (A)the sanctuary, saying to the (B)seven angels, “Go and (C)pour out [a]on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God.”

So the first angel went and poured out his bowl [b](D)on the earth; and it became a loathsome and malignant (E)sore on the [c]people (F)who have the mark of the beast and who worship his image.

And the second angel poured out his bowl (G)into the sea, and it became blood like that of a dead man, and every living [d]thing in the sea died.

Then the third angel poured out his bowl into the (H)rivers and the springs of waters, and they (I)became blood. And I heard the angel of the waters saying, “(J)Righteous are You, (K)who is and who was, O (L)Holy One, because You (M)judged these things; for they poured out (N)the blood of saints and prophets, and You have given them (O)blood to drink. They [e]deserve it.” And I heard (P)the altar saying, “Yes, O [f](Q)Lord God, the Almighty, (R)true and righteous are Your judgments.”

And the fourth angel poured out his bowl upon (S)the sun, (T)and it was given to it to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with [g]fierce heat, and they (U)blasphemed the name of God who has the authority over these plagues, and they (V)did not repent so as to (W)give Him glory.

10 Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the (X)throne of the beast, and his kingdom became (Y)darkened; and they gnawed their tongues because of pain, 11 and they (Z)blasphemed the (AA)God of heaven because of their pains and their (AB)sores, and they (AC)did not repent of their deeds.

12 And the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the (AD)great river, the Euphrates, and (AE)its water was dried up, so that (AF)the way would be prepared for the kings (AG)from the [h]east. 13 Then I saw coming out of the mouth of the (AH)dragon and out of the mouth of the (AI)beast and out of the mouth of the (AJ)false prophet, three (AK)unclean spirits like (AL)frogs; 14 for they are (AM)spirits of demons, (AN)doing signs, which go out to the kings of the (AO)whole [i]world, to (AP)gather them together for the war of the (AQ)great day of God, the Almighty. 15 (“Behold, (AR)I am coming like a thief. (AS)Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his garments, (AT)so that he will not walk about naked and men will not see his shame.”) 16 And they (AU)gathered them together to the place which (AV)in Hebrew is called [j](AW)Har-Magedon.

The Seventh Bowl

17 Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl upon (AX)the air, and a (AY)loud voice came out of the (AZ)sanctuary from the throne, saying, “(BA)It is done.” 18 And there were flashes of (BB)lightning and sounds and peals of thunder; and there was (BC)a great earthquake, (BD)such as there had not been since man came to be upon the earth, so great an earthquake was it, and so mighty. 19 (BE)And the great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the [k]nations fell. (BF)Babylon the great was (BG)remembered before God, to give her (BH)the cup of the wine of the wrath of His rage. 20 And (BI)every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. 21 And (BJ)huge [l]hailstones, about one [m]talent each, *came down from heaven upon men; and men (BK)blasphemed God because of the (BL)plague of the hail, because its plague *was extremely [n]severe.

Psalm 144

Blessed Be Yahweh, My Rock

Of David.

144 Blessed be Yahweh, (A)my rock,
Who (B)trains my hands for war,
My fingers for battle;
My lovingkindness and (C)my fortress,
My (D)stronghold and my deliverer,
My (E)shield and He in whom I take refuge,
Who (F)subdues [a]my people under me.
O Yahweh, (G)what is man, that You know him?
Or the son of man, that You think of him?
(H)Man is like a breath;
His (I)days are like a passing shadow.

O Yahweh, (J)bow Your heavens, and (K)come down;
(L)Touch the mountains, that they may smoke.
Flash forth (M)lightning and scatter them;
Send out Your (N)arrows and confuse them.
Send forth Your hand (O)from on high;
Set me free and (P)deliver me out of many waters,
Out of the hand of (Q)foreigners
Whose mouth (R)speaks worthlessness,
And whose (S)right hand is a right hand of lying.

O God, I will sing a (T)new song to You;
Upon a (U)harp of ten strings I will sing praises to You,
10 Who (V)gives salvation to kings,
Who (W)sets David His servant free from the evil sword.
11 Set me free and deliver me out of the hand of the sons of a (X)foreigner,
Whose mouth (Y)speaks worthlessness
And whose (Z)right hand is a right hand of lying.

12 That our sons would be as (AA)grown-up plants in their youth,
And our daughters as (AB)corner pillars [b]fashioned as for a palace;
13 That our (AC)granaries would be full, furnishing every kind of produce,
And our flocks would bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields outside;
14 That our (AD)cattle would [c]bear
Without [d](AE)mishap and without [e](AF)loss,
And without (AG)outcry in our streets!
15 How blessed are the people for whom this is so;
How (AH)blessed are the people for whom God is Yahweh!

Proverbs 30:29-31

29 There are three things which are stately in their march,
Even four which are stately when they walk:
30 The lion which is (A)mighty among the animals
And does not (B)turn back before any,
31 The [a]strutting rooster, the male goat also,
And a king when his army is with him.
